Alright, i have over 25 games. STALKER, Oblivion, Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes, Arma: Armed Assault, and many more that will not work with Vista. I am always crashing in each of these games and it is driving me crazy. The lag in framerate is horrid. I have a pretty good computer to boot. I am even running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. Can someone help explain this lack in support for hardware or software, and/or maybe give me a possible solution?

Ill explain it to you;

WINDOWS IS GHEY!

Vista has so many problems on release, just like XP and 98 before it, you have to wait until they bring out service packs to iron the bugs out.

Most new games recommed running vista so you can use direct x 10, but its so buggy at the moment I wouldn't trust it to run pong.

and halo 2 requires vista (T_T), oh well that could have been a good game

yeah vista has probs, if you can dual boot with xp and play with that, vista will get better just like it has got better since beta.

He is referring to "Ready Boost", where you can use a flash drive as a page file to help speed things up. It is a nice feature, but it won't really benefit someone with 2GB of RAM.

As for Vista and gaming, I suppose it's hit and miss. I've been playing Halo 2, with no problems, althought that is a Vista only game so one would expect that to work. The other games I have played without issue are F.E.A.R, C&C 3, anything on Steam, and Riddick. The only game that really ever gave me an issue was Call of Duty 2.

But I agree that in terms of performance something feels off with Vista, so for that reason I have been dual booting.

From the games you named, STALKER, CoH and Oblivion work for me with 64-bit Vista. Have you tried installing newest drivers?

well ant that odd? im like the opposite of you. my call of duty 2 works like a charm but my steam games dont work at all i tried playin css and it kept sending me to the blue screen and restarting. i bought fear yesterday and it seems to work fine with me. I aslo have a gig of ram would that ready boot technique help me at all? i have a couple of flash drives does it matter what kind you use?

Just to make clear: I haven't tried Supreme Commander and ArmA on Vista, but they shouldn't have problems either.

Well to be fair my Call of Duty issue may have been because I upgraded my video card, went from a 1650Pro, to a 8800GTS and I didn't reformat or anything. CoD 2 launched got me into a level but had a grey screen, everything else was there, my ammo count, reticule and the sound, but no video.

As far as the flash memory goes, I don't think it really matters, you could use a USB key, or a Compact Flash card from a digital camera.

You might wanna read this to see the pros and cons to ready boost. All in all I don't think it will really matter for games.

Also, here is a Feature that GS did on Ready Boost and gaming!

CSS works fine in Vista here. Over 80FPS at the highest settings.

you can buy 1Gb flash drive instead of 2Gb of RAM - it'll give you more performances when using OS Vista and it's cheaper

Supcom and COH should work on Vista, they work fine for.

they are "GFW" so they should be guarenteed to work on both 32 and 64 bit vista

I have no problem playing games on mine. But, then again, I don't play a lot of high-end games on my computer. The only games I usually play are Starcraft, Quake's 1-3, World of Warcraft, Worms 2, and the Doom series. Well, other than Doom 3 of course.

But I did read that if you want to play your latest games then you should wait a while for Vista to become more compatible. Wait a while for the updates, whenever they come out.
