i find vista to be brilliant and it looks nicer too
im happy with my vista 64bit myself.. dont have hardly the compatability issues most speak of.[QUOTE="Astaroth2k"]ill stick to xp for gaming and ubuntu for everything else thankyou very much......Lach0121

fair enough stick with XP but you say it as if vista is crap if anything it is better 1. it looks better 2. DX10 enabled 3. will be DX11 enabled 4. it will get the most support atm 5. some little features make it easier to use 6. you get the same performance now as XP not like it used to be 7. compatitbility issues arent that bad even on 64 bit, mine 64 bit is perfectly fine 8. vista is a ram hog not because its inefficient but because it has a memory management feature that tells it to use up 99% of ram for pre-loading and cache to SPEED things up as unused ram is wasted ram, if you dont like this it can be turned off by disabling the service, 'superfetch' i understand if you dont see the point spending money mainly for the fact of DX10 and a better looking GUI but dont say it as if it is crap[QUOTE="Lach0121"][QUOTE="Astaroth2k"]ill stick to xp for gaming and ubuntu for everything else thankyou very much......Beaglesniffer

And good for you, sadly you are the vocal minority, most people cant stand vista...including myself.
btw dream theater are amazing in every way possible....petrucci and portnoy are gods....
I'll care when Microsoft stops being a prick.
I've got a friend with a 2GB/dual core/GF8200 Vista laptop, when he runs videos in any application his CPU usage skyrockets. Even if he runs videos in something as light as media player classic, CPU usage goes through the roof. I experienced the exact same thing when I was running Vista as my main a while back, even HD GameTrailers videos would send CPU usage skyrocketing were it wouldn't on XP.
When he/I run it in Windows media player however CPU usage is fine. Someone would think Microsoft artificially reduced the performance in all media players except 'theirs'.
Add that games like Alan Wake/Shadowrun/Halo 2/etc. for some odd reason will run on Xbox; but cannot be done on XP, until most were cracked strangely enough. I'm fed up with seeing Microsoft herding people towards Vista using their influence to take away; then give back features people already had before. It's like Crysis VHigh, they pull such BS it is unbelievable.
I have Vista but didn't have to pay for it thanks to my universities MSDN program, it will stay on dual boot with XP until I start seeing 'actual benifits' to using it and none of this artificial crap.
Until then GameTrailers runs better on XP, they will probably be hyping Windows 7 before then though.
I use Vista 64 bit, mainly because it is cheaper than XP and it was the OS that came preinstalled on my computer. I LOVE Vista. I'm not seeing any of these compatibility problems, and I'm going just fine for FPS games and MMOs.
Personally, all I care about is wether or not they allow me to run unsigned drivers, because while I am a big fan of leveling on my own, WoW gets repetitive for me, and I can't run MMO Glider on my computer because my 64 bit OS can't run unsigned drivers.
I'll see what's going to happen, and pray for the best, but knowing Microsoft, it probably won't happen until Windows 7 (if ever).
I hope they improve the compatibility issues. Vista hates Macromedia Flash and even Firefox has quirks that didn't appear in XP.metroidfood
Vista x86 has no issues with flash or Firefox.

lol i feel you, and yes they are gods.. they are phenomenal, saw them live, got all their live dvds, though i will say there is an up and coming guitarist that is cold, and in his mid 20's Jeff Loomis, check him out, has a solo album Zero Phase, and he is the main guitarist for Nevermore.

Vista 32 bit Premium (SP1) works fine for games.
I dont use ubuntu for anything to do with compatibility, its just a better OS 10 fold than windows...for everyday things....use xp because wine is crap....but overall ubuntu dominates windows...love it.Astaroth2k:lol: no, no it isnt. your blind. Ive used Mac OS X 10.5.2 and 10.5.5 , Ubuntu, Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Vista and Mac OS X are by far the best.
