The answer is simple. Power cycle both your router and cable or dsl modem. The modem keeps track of the last MAC address of the device connected to it, in this case, your old router. You have to flush the MAC address from the modem, by powering it off, waiting 30 seconds, power it on, wait untill the lights become solid and then power on your router. Your new router will now be connected to the modem. If your modem has batteries in it (some do), remove them too.fib112
