What wireless router model do you have? I never heard of a router that requires you to be connect to an "admin" computer.

If the router is already setted up, you do not need the computer connected to the router and can go wireless.

You can still setup the router wirelessly (if you're connected wirelessly fine that is). For that you typically enter the router's IP address in your web browser... (usually 192.168.x.x)

You'd be just accessing the router's local web-based configuration that's on the router's flash memory (you do not require an Internet connection for this).

When connecting up a wireless router, you dont need it hooked up to an admin computer...but you certainly cannot hook it up "wirelessly." In order for a router to work it must be connected to a modem unless ofcourse it is a modem/router and it has to be hooked up to a phone jack as well as a power source. THen yuo can connec to your internet wirelessly as long as you have wireless cards or adapters.
