I purchased the Witcher 2 today and I'm stoked as crap to play it but.... It crashes my computer. Shuts it off and forces it to restart.

It happens at the same point in the game, my save game starts and I'm going up the ladders with the king. I get to the top and it cuts back to me talking to the dude at the table. It gives me 3 options and no matter what one I click on it goes to the loading screen for about 15 seconds, screen goes black as if the game is going to resume, and then my computer shuts off.

It auto-detected high settings for me but I've tried it on medium and low and I get the same result.

I've never had a problem with heat or bad ram...

My specs are intel i7 860 3.2ghz oc, 8g of ram, gtx 560ti, 750w ps

anyone else experience this or any remedies? been searching a few forums with no luck.

im assuming everything is up to date driver wise. the latest beta drivers from nvidia also solve a few issues with performance and may be worth a try (from what i hear..im an AMD guy myself at the mo). also if your trying to override things like AA using the nvidia control panel then disable that and use the games own AA. i have heard forcing AA or AF solutions can crash the game. so that could be worth a check. theres also a patch due next week (early i hope :) ) that may solve the problem. those are just some general things i have heard. i hope one of them works for ya.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll give em a shot. And on a good note, of the three options, the one about the dragon worked for me. I played all the way through and it brought me back to the guy at the table, and now I'm stuck with the two options - both of which crash my comp.

Sometimes my copy would crash on me as well but it never shut off my PC. I guess your psu could be acting up one time I had a 750w psu that would just shut my pc down without warning then I switched out psu's and its working great if you got a spare psu with 2 pcie power plugs try it out.
