Hi Friends,

I'm having troubles with Witcher 2 - My System Specs are as follows

Inter Core I5-2500K CPU

8 GB of CORSAIR VENGEANCE RAM

WIN 7 64 BIT OS

NVIDIA GEFORE GTX 560 Ti 1 GB Card

When I run Witcher I cant run it on the Ultimate Graphics settings - guess my system is not powerful enough for that but even on high it really struggles. Is this normal - the game says that the recommended settings for my config is Low - I have updated the drivers etc and i'm really confused

Is this normal ? Can I just play the game on medium or should I be able to run high settings ?

Kindly guide me friends...

K

Ultra settings use a type of anti aliasing called ubersampling that is utterly crippling to performance. A GTX 560ti should not have a problem running WItcher 2 on Ultra without ubersampling however. I'm not sure why your system would be struggling on high or lower settings if you have your gamed patched and the drivers updated

You should run it on High fine. Without Ubersampling the game is pretty easy to run.

Well i think i did after seeing thread after thread of people with i5's having problems, ALL my games run perfectly at max settings, down loaded 18 skyrim mods over the last couple of days and for some reason i get a constant 55-60fps now (max setting 1080p)

Im not saying that amd doesnt make good cpu's just that intel makes better ones for gaming. something is wrong with tc setup he should be upwards of 50 fps with that setup its basically the same as mine just make sure uber is off. the I52500k should beat any amd cpu on the market for gaming. But it doesnt really matter as long as your happy with your setup

I have a GTX 580, i7, 8 gigs of ram and it still says my recomended settings are low! I run it on ultra anyway but with uber sampling off as I cant see the differenece.

Turn off Ubersampling and you should be fine.

Having issues on high to though? thats wierd with a comp like yours.

Its not a nvidia thing, Ive played witcher2 on 3 nvidia computers and it ran well on all of them (460, 6950 and 560)

I have a 560 Ti as well, and I can play The Witcher 2 on high no problem.

EDIT: I use the auto detect function as well, it's sets the game to high with no problems.

Thanks a lot for the kind replies friends - really appreciate it.... My Bad I can run it perfect now on Ultra with uversampling turned-off - no problems at all.... its just that the auto detect still says low as the recommended setting but thats fine I guess... as long as I can play the game fine.... Thanks again friends...

my rig is pretty similar to yours, i can run it smoothly on ultra (without ubersampling tho obviously) and i bounce around from 45 - 60 fps, mostly stays around 45 tho

I can play BF3, Skyrim, blah blah all on high, but for some reason I had to play the Witcher 2 on low. Twas saddening.

Me neither. And why bring it up in the first place, it was clear that the CPU was not the problem in the TCs case. It was the GPU struggling to run ubersampling, which is understandable since it kills framerates even on the fastest single GPU setups.

I maxed out Witcher 2 with my X4 965 and I saw no slowdown. Smooth as butter. Guess it's a lot of personal preference. I believe a 2500K shouldbe able to Max Witcher 2 out but I don't see how you can say someone made the wrong choice with AMD when their Phenom II quad cores can max out games like Battlefield 3 and Witcher 2 f paired with a high end graphics card.

This thread wasnt created to mash AMD fanboys or Intel fanboys, if someone isnt smart enough to detect that the issue is not the CPU then he has no place on this board, end of story. I am not saying that your wrong but that BS he gave about people having issues the 2500K is not true, the only reason I would see anyone say this cuz the chip is popular and you run into it more often then not, then you might assume that its because of that which in return is wrong. TC here clearly used ubersampling whch criples any system regardless of CPU or GPU(within reason).

You keep trying to justify your decision to yourself. Maybe deep down you have buyers remorse ;)
