Ok I've been stuck here for a while now, I must be pretty damn bad at this game.

I'm in the sewers after Jethro sent me there and I've encountered Gellert Blenheim and his gang of Salamanders, but no matter how hard I try I always end up getting killed, none of my attacks make contact and I just get surrounded fast.

Few tips

1. Use the steel sword which is effective against human ( do not use the silver sword is only effective against monsters and will take 5times more hits to make the same damage as the steel sword against humans )

2. Consume a swallow potion just before the combat ( regenarates health)

3. Consume a tawnu owl ( regenarates endurance )

4. Make sure you use the Aard sign and Igni sign frequently ( if you have level 2 Aard sign it really helps since you can deliver knockouts )

5. It will also help if you use the fear potion if you reached the point where you can make potions that is ( that way your opponents will run away and they will not attack you all at the same time )

6. Also the blizzard potion helps alot

7. Finally make sure you are using the correct attack type. You cant use attack based on strength on salamanders since they avoid it easy because its the slowest attack and salamanders are fast. Make sure you use the Fast attack

Is this the mission when you have to clear the salamandra dope base?

Also use steel sword againts human opponets, use grease on the sword hangmans venom (cant remember other for humans), use group style and have only one sign that has points in it (aard is the best cause u can stun enemies even the higher up ones in the finnish), also have a lot of points in dexterity dodge and deflect is good u get hit less. About potions try swallow with rubido secondary and tawny owl with nigredo secondery and another potion that increases your combat effectivenes with secondary effect the third element albedo.

Just before the battle I do some prep, apply whetstone to my steel sword, drink swallow, though i think i may have used up all my tawny owl. I use group style against them (for obvious reasons) would it be better to go fast style and just take them out one by one?

Thats what i did. I use fast style instead of group style ( actually throughout the game rarelly used group style unless i'm surrounded by 5-6enemies ). Also do use swallow before the battle and if it happens to have diamond dust it helps alot

There is NOTHING wrong with using Group Steel against 3 or more armed men. The only condition to doing that is making sure you have both Trip 1 and Trip 2 before using it. It would be even better if you have Trip 3 too.

This will likely knock them all down meaning they'll stop attacking for a while leaving you to attack them for free damage.

The best skill in the game though is Igni so if you have been leveling that with Intelligence appropriately then you can just cast that ONCE even while you're surrounded, run away and watch them throw up their hands screaming in agony while they burn QUICKLY to death!

If your attacks are missing that means that you are using the wrong style against your opponents. You need to use fast or group style. If your timing is right with the group attack you can clear that mission really fast. Also as other said, use swallow and don't be afraid of running away from your enemies while your health regenerates. One more thing, if you are having a hard time seeing your enemies use cat poison, but be aware that cat+swallow will raise your toxicity to ~50% of the bar, so if you include tawny oil your toxicity will be around ~75% so your attacks will do a lot less damage. My suggestion: swallow+cat+aard sign+fast/group style(group style can kill enemies that can be killed with the strong style so keep that in mind). If that fails grind until you can purchase the 5000 orens armor and retry the mission.

Gamartto

That would be Cat POTION.

One shouldn't worry about toxicity concerns because everyone should have picked up The Book of the Tawny Owl way back in Chapter 1.

The Book of the Tawny Owl gives formulae for 3 different potions including White Honey. White Honey reduces Toxicity to zero and cancels the effects of other potions.

So at this point in the game, one should ALWAYS have at least 1 White Honey in inventory at all times!

Got passed it, thanks ya'll. My toxicity levels were very high, and whenever i would activate Blizzard it would cut my health by almost half so I was pretty much dead from the start. Also I ran back up the sewers a bit and managed to only pull about 3 of the men instead of the whole group, stunned Gellert and killed him right away, the rest was easy. It did bug out and I couldn't get the proper loot from him at first, ended up running round for about 5 mins wondering what was going on, came back and the loot was on him, phew!

No need for the remark about the typo ;).
