I like both. But I had more fun with Hellgate's beta.anime-2k3
I guess it's up to each persons taste.
I was about to asy you where crazy, because I'm so deep into the witcher now, but then I thought "well, to each his own". I guess it's all about how people like it. Hellgate was kinda cool on the demo, but a turn off on how dull it looked, so I'm waiting to check it out.
They are both very different
The Witcher is an awesome deep cinematic RPG with an awesome story and lots of choices
Hellgate: London is a repetative linear boring first person RPG with barely a story and has online that you have to pay for ( in other words the true successor to Diablo 2 )

Barely any story? What's the story then? I garuntee you don't have a clue to what the full story is.
And you don't HAVE to pay for online, it's optional.
As for it beeing boring, well, not gonna go there with you. To each his own. Though I wanted to clear up the factual innacuracies in your post ;)
How can you even dispute that HG:L is lacking in the story department... it's a series of collection quests with incoherantly babeling npc's.
Also, the fee may be optional, but it doesn't make it any less ridiculus.... or neccisary for any serious gamer.
@topicWitcher of course.
like people here are telling you, they are very different:
Hellgate is boring and repetitive, while Witcher is deep, somewhat-fresh and interesting :)

Gee,I dunno, maybe the fact they we were missing every cutscene in the game that would help move and explain the story. Also missing Act IV & V which is 70% of the game, and the few people in the beta who got that content ALL said the story picks up greatly from that point.
And I don't care if you think it is rediculous, I was just clearing up that it was not MANDATORY, and is OPTIONAL.
So there you go, I cleared up your baloney too :)

Just to clarify or "clear up some baloney", you were basing your defense of the plot on the theory that FSS has a magical version of the game that is completley different from the beta, and cutscenes that you haven't seen.

Ya...I sure implied there was a magical build huh?
Maybe YOU missed the part where I said:
"Also missing Act IV & V which is 70% of the game, and the few people in the beta who got that content ALL said the story picks up greatly from that point."
I am not claiming the story is revolutionary or even great, just diputing the FACT you cannot determine there is no story from a beta that was missing cutscenes and 70% of the content. Not to mention form ALL accounts from the people who DID play the last 70% of the game that the story greatly picks up.
Sorry, again, you fail at anything resembling a coherent argument. Any more straw man arguments you wish to share with us?
You implied that there was more to the story. The structure of the game thus far shows us to be the opposite. There is no way that FSS is going to have a random collection quest game for the first several hours and pull a 180 on the unreleased content and turn the game in a completley new direction. Not happening. Implying otherwise is implying there is a magical, unreleased version of the game.
now, as interested asI am in your random insults, I really have to go to work.

proving you have zero understanding of the beta. proving you were not in the beta test and not in the beta forums. proving you are just trolling the HG:L topics to annoy people. reported again

What don't you understand about not having CUTSCENES (you know, those movie things that help move a story along) and missing 70% of the content of the game? What don't you understand about player accounts that the last two acts start picking up on the main story line greatly?
Nevermind, it's obvious you are not even attempting to understand. You are meerly invested in your trolling and no amount of facts will ever get into that little brain of yours.
I think the witcher may deliver a better first impression.. but I think Hellgate is going to have deeper gameplay, and stick around quite a bit longerafter the Witcher..
You don't HAVE to pay for Hellgate online? and you can still play with all your buddies like regular, right?

No, you don't have to pay, and yes, you can play with your buddies online through the entire campaign free of charge.
I also tend to agree with your analysis of the two games.
Well I'm going for both.
Not trying to sound like a Hellgate fanboy but have any of you seen the trailers?
They're seriously diablo/warcraft/starcraft quality.
I'm sure there is a string of awesome cut scenes to surge the story onwards.
Anyway I've booked my copy tomorrow and will enjoy it regardless of what anyone thinks here ^^
Believe it or not, I pre-ordered the game, was somewhat interested, but canceledweirjf. It sucks, bad. What was I reported for? Having an opinion? You HG:L fanbois are feisty this morning. must... go... to work later ;)delirin
and pre-ordering the game makes you understand that just like D2 the game is in the learning mode until level 8. it makes you have some mystic understanding of the beta and what build we were using VS retail? Do you REALLY think that a blatant troll with nearly zero understanding and experience with the gamecalling me a fanboy makes a lick of sense? Hurry back from work so that you can spend all of your off-time on the game forums! have fun! lmao
The way everyone is talking about the Witcher, I'll have to pick it up. It sounds great.
As for Hellgate... Well, I think companies need to stop putting out beta's of their games, because you'll inevitably have a large group of people who don't quite grasp the idea of a "beta." What I mean is, they think "Oh wow! I get to play this game now, before the game is even out!" but what they don't realize is that they're playing a version of a game from a few months ago. Beta's are unfinished, unpolished, and glitchy. If beta's weren't those things, they wouldn't be beta's.But people expect the game to be perfect and ready for them to play, and if it's notthey get all upset.
For me? I love it. I think it's got a lot of potential. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

Not a few months old, more like 2-3 weeks old.
is everyones comment on hellgate in relation to the sp beta, cause the mp beta was incredible imo. -MythuS-
I was in the MP beta for quite a while. I loved it at first but after leveling 4 toons past 20 I just couldnt get into the game anymore.
At it's core the game is just a gear farming fest. Some people love that, but some don't.

Are you on every post that involved HG:L? My god, man! We all already know how you feel about the game, and some agree and some disagree. If someone disagrees, PLEASE don't feel the compulsion to get the last word in, because it takes the thread off topic. Just post an "I hate HG:L" thread and reply to yourself whenever you feel the need to retort to someone else.
On topic: I think both games look good, and as I haven't played the Witcher I can't really say, but I'm thinking it'll be hard for me to choose between the two. Right now HG:L just because I've played it.
