Hiya's guys Hopefully someone can help me out here. Will the E8400 work with this board out of the box? Seems to be some conflicting info around. I have both ordered and on thier way , since i know the board supports it if I just put it in the board I don't want to damage anything if some update is needed first.

Also , if it will not what is the best route to take?

Not too sure. But 4 layer PCB boards like the P35-DS3L seems to be having problems with Penryn. Though I'm more certain the problem arises on Yorkfield and not Wolfdale.

Nope. I just ordered that exact same motherboard (also from Newegg) and an E8400 from NCIXUS.com. You'll need to update your BIOS before it's compatible. I bought a cheap Celeron 420 from Newegg ($44 I think?) that I'll use to flash the BIOS and then sell on ebay. It might not be the cheapest route, but it's better than nothing. Alternatively, you could see if a local PC store will flash the BIOS for you.

Ok , If what you say is accurate , here is my problem. I am new at this and its my first time. I don't know how to flash a BIOS. Is it just a simple download or something?

I think I bit off more then I can chew on this one , lol.

I'm in the exact same position as you. I've never built a PC from scratch myself, and certainly never bothered to update my BIOS. I found some helpful guides online though. This might be a good place to start: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1605

Should be printed on the PCB along the edge, or possible near one of the expansion slots.
