I loved playing Wolfenstein 3D as a kid, but from the trailer, it doesn't remind me too much of that old game. Is it a good spin on a great old franchise or is it pretty meh?

I loved it, i would give $5 for it anyday!
I'm a huge fan of RTCW too, and this one feels different than it in my opinion, but in a good way, hope you like it as much as i do, if you get it of course!
i'd suggest getting it, especially for that low of a price. it isn't exactly the same as the original but you'll feel familiar with finding hidden intel and treasures, except this time around you collect the gold to use as currency to buy weapons/upgrades from the black market. all the guns are fun and feel satisfying to use and the enemies are pretty varied aside from the regular soldiers you see patrolling the city, which is pretty open-world with all kinds of houses to go in and secret routes to find. you get these veil powers that allow you to move fast, see through walls, have super strength, slow down time, etc. all of that makes up for not being able to kick people like in the original :P plus you'll find hammers and fire axes to hack at people now and then. you might want to play a step up from the default difficulty though, the A.I can be a little ditzy and predictable at times.
Since I live in the U.K I get it for 2.49 which amounts to $4, weird how an american company sells games slighlty cheaper to the U.K.
[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]Personally I'm going to pass on it. I was a huge fan of RTCWR4gn4r0k
Yeah same here. Too bad we'll never get a true sequel to it as Wolfenstein didn't sell as expected and as a result Raven had to shrink down and no makes COD DLC maps :(
The multiplayer in that game was so awesome. Kinda janky, but explosive.[QUOTE="Mr_Ditters"]lol, no kidding. I am more addicted to buying them than I am playing them.Gosh! Not another one. I'm so sick of Steam making me buy games that I never thought about buying.

Haha I was just saying that the other day. I like buying them more than playing them. I am a game collector now. I hardly even play them anymore. If only my hobbie were collecting things of monetary value--like coins or something.

No worries! Steam games have great resell value... Oh wait... :(
great game but anyone know why steam overlay does not work with the game? when i check the settings the box is checked. i also validated the files. anyone have a clue?SimplyFatal
That's pretty odd that a game from Steam doesn't have the overlay when nonsteam games can still use it.
is everyone else experiencing this problem? i still cant get the steam overlay to work.SimplyFatal
My internet is pretty slow, but I'd be glad to verify if it works for me or not. Hopefully, someone will respond to you first.
I don't expect the game to be done for a couple days though. :(
Are you kidding? :? They tried to implement some kind of exploration and freedom that backfired imo, they should have just made it a linear shooter, and that is based after playing the game several hours and getting bored from it. It has some elements that made Far Cry 2 a terible game. It's definately worth $5. It's a pretty good follow up to RTCW.

Well I picked it up. I still consider Wolf ET to be the best online FPS ever made. Even if this game doesn't live up to it, it will be worth it to shoot some nazi's with tesla coils just for nostalgia's sake.
Even if you don't buy it, download Wolf ET free, play it, and then wonder why more fps's haven't copied their team oriented , objective based, storyline based, game modes that put all other online shooters to shame.
Then go ahead and get pissed that you have been playing the same formula for online shooters, while something better has existed for 9 years.

Can you elaborate more? I'm still on the fence about getting it and absolutely despise farcry2.
I never even tried the MP, but I really enjoyed the SP campaign. The story was decent enough, level design was great.. but especially the weapons, shooting mechanics, and abilities... they were all very well done and just made for a really fun game.
Thinkin about getting this game myself :D I just rented it on console when it came out.

Well there isn't really a story-line but I agree with the rest. Wolf ET was a great game and best of all it was completely free.
RTCW and Wolf ET were both great games that were popular on PC, yet we never got a true sequel to them(got Wolfenstein and Quake Wars instead) yet we get dozens of COD games ...

What I meant is the multiplayer objectives had a story to it. Like the Nazi's are building a super rail gun and your teams objective is to blow it up. In order to do that you need to blow up this wall, get into this building, steal this tank, etc.
It was so much better than every other shooter which all have the same game modes: free for all, deathmatch, ctf, etc.

I would like to point out a severely overlooked point when referreing to "The Best" or "so much better than every other shooter." That is Preference. Some just have a hard time understanding that their taste isn't universal.

What are you talking about? I was merely stating my opinion. Not some universal truth. Geese.

I was just pointing out that it was just your opinion, whether you stated it was (or eluded to) or not.
