I have a GTX 260 896Mb videocard and 4Gb of ram although with 32-bit Vista it only shows 3.2, Also have a onboard 8200 GPU for Hybrid-Sli which is turned off at the moment, (In the Bios and Nvidia control panel) And the tests show I have 2.2GB of video ram. Where is the remainder coming from if I have the onboard disabled? Even if I had it enabled, that still doesn't come up to 2.2GB sooo..... It's not counting in any of the HDD's page file or maybe the 2Gb thumb drive I'm using for readyboost (Or whatever it's called in Vista) is it?

I have never trusted that site for anything... It really does not give accurate results. Run dxdiag to see more accurate info. Also, get 64 bit vista with that much ram and nice video card

I'm just wondering if any of my actual ram is being wasted. Also, in my Bios I think the shared video mem setting is either at 128mb or 256mb so....

Yeah I'll check Dxdiag, (although I THINK it says the same...) And I'm gonna install 64-bit Vista as soon as my new mobo gets here. And, If I'm not mistaken the Nvidia GTX 260 IS a VERY nice card lol. especially with the sale I got on it with the 896Mb of ram on it instead of the 512 one.

Currently, about 800 meg of your ram is unavaliable becuase Windows can't address it. You could try turning on PAE (if it isn't already, I think I've read that it's turned on automatically by SP1 if it's avaliable), otherwise you'll need Vista 64bit.

Yeah I know I'm not getting my full mem capacity with 32-bit Vista But with my system showing I have 2.2Gb dedicated to Video ram I'm wondering if what I DO have that is recognized in Vista is being hogged up by whatever is going on with that video ram accumulation...

EDIT: Ok I just read an article that explained it I think. It looks like that 800Mb ofram that is not being used, due to the OS limitation is being used by the GPU.

Oh, and turning on PAE still won't allow me to actually 'use" the full amount of ram right? Just detect it is all, from what I read. Well..... It's not really a BAD thing to have that much ram being used by the GPU is it? Or does the GPU even actually get full use of it as well?
