Ok trollie, that's not the question. Go back under your bridge.
To the OP, you need the original to play the game.

If your talking about addiction, that is certainly possible. Make sure that before you start that you deliberately limit yourself to only an hour or so per day, or even per two days. That way you can avoid addiction.
I hated WoW until i played it, then I played it and it was great.pwilletts
WoW was alright till the end game.. The end game is just horrid not to mention the horribly balanced pvp because of gear.. Due to gear its like facing another level 30 (which you are level 30 with level 30 gear) with level 50 gear.. Yeah you get the point... Raiding was more tedious and time consuming then anything resulting with difficulty.. This made matters worse with me when the item drops such as the numerous set purples as generic drops that every one that can use will soon have.. With the only way of really becoming good at pvp is spending ludicrious amounts of time of getting these generic pieces.. Oh also do not forget something that is seldom even said by the defenders... I have said it many times that the majority of the raid instances take little to no skill on your part and more just being capable of listening to a person while you spam 3 to 5 abilities on average. I have gotten pretty far in the raid instances unfortantly, what they don't tell you is some of these "more challenging and fun raid instances" can only be had if you have done the even more brainless grind fests of Molten Core and other parts. Every high up guild at least requires you to have tier 1 gear to join them, thats inless you join a newer guild which you most likely will spend more time raiding there then the prior.  Thats my basic views on the game when it came for 60 to me, now if BC changed any of this good for them.. But it sure seems they only added a few things not really dramatically changed anything.
That being said I suggest you get only the original for awhile till you at very least get to 30+, some people lose interest at this point and quit.. The next point I would say would be early to late 50s and at 60 (which many vets quit from).. Also take note that WoW isn't the only MMO out there, I recently purchased EQ2 and atm I am having a good time with what I have had time of playing it.. If your looking for straight out pvp mostly, then Guild Wars would probably be the path to go due to having the most balanced pvp out there having everything to do with your build and skill, nothing to do with your gear.
