Hey, i just have a quick question I was hoping you could help me with.

I'm a pretty big Warcraft III fan since the summer, and I'm thinking of buying WoW. Thing is, I'm worried I wont be able to really get into it because it's an older game, and there is already a huge amount of people playing it. Basically, I'm asking if WoW is a very newb friendly game or not. Is it worth it for me to buy the game and Expo, or will I be lost, way behind, laughed at, and essentially wasting money?

Any opinions will be helpful, good or bad. I'm just looking for some honest feedback. And, since we're here, does any race do Cla'ss better or worse than the next one? For example, will a Dwarf be any better or worse as a Warrior then a Night Elf? Just wondering.

Thanks very much for your help.

Yeah, it's not a hard game to learn at all. The hardest thing would be PvP, which you need to do more of in order to get better. The game is very straight and to the point when it comes to PvE though. If you've got a friend with a high level character, all the better too.

Right now its probably eaiser than ever to start playing wow. You can download a trial version to see if you like it. It is also very simple and noob friendly in the starting levels and gets more complicated as you level up. Just try to level on a decently populated server so you can get groups together for things and you should be fine.

Despite the game's age, there are tons of WoW players that are new (or at least act like it). You won't be the only one stumbling around and if you have some gaming experience and an interest in reading or poking around you can be more knowledgable than most players in no time.

The races are all pretty balanced. You may have a tiny edge picking the "right" race for a given class in the first couple levels, but once you level a bit and get decent gear the racial differences mean almost nothing. Pick the one you like.

If you're doing your first character and gonna be solo'ing a lot while you figure the game out, Hunter is hands down the most effective class. Once your ready to seriously start playing with other people though, it's more fun and more effective to run a specialist class like a Warrior, Priest, Mage, or Rogue.

And the one tip that I wish someone had told me when I first started on Wow: If you're gonna pick up one UI Mod get Auctioneer. Its a mod that helps you monitor auction house prices so you can find deals and (more importantly) sell the loot you get for good prices. It's a big help for money management on that painful first character.

People are always restarting new characters too so there are tons of low lvl characters running around. A few tips for you though. For one find a character you think you will like and get him/her to a high lvl before you start making like 5 alts, they just drain your money and unless you have a high lvl character you won't be able to afford it. Also be careful with your choice, it takes a long time to lvl a toon you don't want one at 70 to find out they are no good (like me with my hunter useless at end game for the msot part lol well in PVE). And when starting a toon I'd do a gnome a dwarf or a human (for alliance i don't have any horde experience) becuase if you do a night elf you are stuck in Darnassus which IMO sucks the best low lvl areas for questing are outside of Stormwind and to get there as a lowbie with no experience from darnassus will essentially be hell.

Don't listen to this guy. PvP requires the least amount of skill of any game that you will find on the market today. All you must do is play a hell of a lot (and be extremely lucky right off the bat) and get the best gear and you will be unstoppable in PvP combat.

Every heard of arena? At the higher rated end everyone has the best gear and its mostly your strategy, execution, and class composition that will win the games not the gear.

Right now it is extra noob friendly so it's probably the best time to start playing.

There were some quirks prior to this, but one of the last patches basically eliminated these. When you have a gathering quest, you dont even really need to make an effort now as the items you need to pick up sparkle on the ground.

Gear is relatively easy to get if you PVP, you don't even really need to win all that much unless you want the absolute highest tier of arena gear.

I find PVP and PVE both very satisfying most of the time in WoW, end game PvE encounters especially are a lot of fun.

It's a very social game though, so the more people there are the better the game actually is. You definitely wont be lost though, it's a very easy game to play, but can be somewhat difficult to master.

edit-spelling.
