whats the difference between putting the game on normal or pvp.

if your friends arent on wow how do u enter a group?

and whats the difference main differences between the horde and alliance{besides the race difference}

Normal servers you cant attack the other faction in the world. On a pvp server you can attack the other faction in contested and friendly areas.

there is a way to do pvp on normal server just right click on your user icon and turn on pvp or turn it off but on pvp your stuck with it on so you'll have to watch your back all the time unless your the strongest one there

PVP servers tend to have the worst communities in the history of human social interaction, I would avoid them like the plague.ViolentPressure

..but there also not boring like PVE servers :D.

Well aside from they can't interact, and the race dfferences you already pointed out, lore & background.
