I used to play WoW before BC came out and was thinking about buying the Battlechest and WotLK. I was wondering if its worth starting again?

yup its still quite fun :) i dont play a lot of it atm , but i still keep my sub and join events and some raids in my guild , but actualy got bored after more than 3 years of playing , besides events and other stupid things theres nothing really to do , raids got easy as hell , pvp is unbalanced as ever and all the fun things are being nerfed ( i.e. knocking people of flight mounts :( ) but the new bg and dungeon finder system is amazing , got my pala dual spec as tank and healer and its so much fun !

in my opinion, its not worth playing the second time around.

I used to play from October of 2008 until April of 2009 which was when I quit.

my friends convinced me to start playing again in October of last year, I didn't think it was as fun as it was when I played the first time, even though I was playing with my freinds the secons time and didn't have any friends on the same server the first time. I quit in December because they quit.

so, in short, not its not worth it anymore

Haven't played it in months, but before I stopped it was really still enjoyable. A lot more fun when playing with friends though. The only thing I disliked was doing instances. Namely because I was still looking for decent gear and people will just yell at you for not knowing how to play your class properly. It gets annoying fast when the group leader tells every single person what spells and what not to cast. It's like, y;ou play your toon, I'll play mine, ok!?

Sure, but it's alot more casual and newbie friendly now. You can PuG pretty much everything. ...I don't like that.

If you have friends to play it with, sure, otherwise the game is not that much worth it.

Yes its worth It, being casual now isn't bad, it means you don't have to spend that much time in the Game anymore to be able to keep up.

It might be worth subscribing just to check the game out and see what's happened to it since you stopped playing. Kind of like driving slow past a car crash.

^ Seconded. I just came back after 1.5 year break and its so easy its almost like the special olympics of MMOs. And I really like the lore, the look, and have played since it was released (minus break time). The thing that trashed WOW as a MMO for me was really 3.0 patch. I remember my paladin suddenly could easily solo Fel Reavers in Hellfire Penn in BC when that went live (when I was 70) and at that point - I knew the shark was jumped.

It's definitely worth it, there's so much for you to catch up on so you're going to have a really fun time, trust me. I stopped playing when Ulduar came out because I wasn't able to afford it anymore, however, I wish I could go back because Ice Crown Citadel looks bad ass!
