Some of you know that Jeff Kaplan spoke at GDC this year about the mistakes World of Warcraft has made. However, the problems listed are the tip of the iceberg and this article gives him a helping hand.

This is why I'm so surprised that after all these years no one has been able to topple WoW. I would really like to play an MMORPG at some point, but my time during the school week (I'm on Spring break right now) is rather limited and I don't find grinding to be much fun.

Nah those are hardly wow's mistakes. The main mistake wow has had it making some talent trees unusable/raidable until now. Overall wow has done a wonderful job but it is now catering to casuals and the hard core raiders are disappearing

When you have a user base of 10 million, catering to 1% is not particularly good business sense.

Former WoW player here. This article makes some good points, but saying that it's expansions ruin the previous content isn't something that's bad. Because if new expansions weren't released, the game would be finished as soon as you equip the best gear there is. Part of releasing new content is accepting that previous content is going to be ignored. WoW has it's issues, sure, but the positives easily outweigh them.

I'm done with WoW.... lvl'd my Prot Warrior to 80, got Epic'd out from Heroic 5 mans and the game became the same as b4, too much investment for too little reward.
