Ran 6 hours of prime95 doing blend tests and 2 hours of small FTTS. My cpu is a 2700k at 4.2 ghz at 1.30V; My temps from all four cores were recorded as 73,74,77,79 at one point just barely touching 80C for a few seconds. My cooler Hyper 212 EVO my fan RPM on load is around 1400RPM there has been no crashes or blue screens should I be worried about these temps. This week here in Philadelphia have been real hot as in 93 F do you think ambient temps could play a role. At one point I was playing tomb raider with tress fx enabled and of the cores jumped to 68C my air conditioner was not running at that time it usually averages from 50-62 on load when playing games. Any suggestions my TIM is applied perfectly and checked my heatsink to see if it was loose but it is nicely bolted onto to the CPU; could it just be a hot chip or should I add another fan onto my heat sink.

I wouldn't worry too much about those temps. Ambient temperature indeed plays a role and when temps as high as 93°F you can add 10 to 15°C to your CPU temp.

True, but that's permanent, or at least for longer periods. Peaks of 80°C in short and sparse bursts is okay...
Those temps are fine for that cooler, games will never stress the cpu that much.

Not at the moment, but they will. But I would still crank the fan speed up to 100% right now, just to be sure that it stays cool. I don't even like for my CPU's to hit 70C...
That is not very good for Prime 95. I used Intel Burn Test and my temps never go above 70 C. Those extra megahertz are not worth putting your CPU in danger. Just downclock some, that should help.
Those temps are fine. You'll never reach that high while gaming because games don't stress the CPU nearly as much as Prime does. I was peaking at around 85C and I have yet to get past 63C whilst gaming and my ambients can get to about 85-90F.

There is a program called SI Suite II on your mobo installation disk. It has a fan control section. There is also a speed control in the Monitor Menu of your BIOS. Read the friggin' manual.

What revision is your gpu?
I don't know but I know that I cannot change the voltage. I knew that when I bought the card, but I got it for a good price so I don't care.Â
It's hotter here in Burbank, CA and my temps are much better than yours. I5-2500k here. I have a Hyper 212+. What gives bro? For load temps I never pass 60*C.
I have hyper threading enabled does that add more heat to the processor? Anyways I think I might mount a 2nd fan to the heat sink, I always use the spread method for TIM I think that could be the cause.
very good news guys I cranked up my fan profile to a 100% also fixed my air conditioner and my cores now i dle at: 32, 32, 33, 33 on load it is 64, 68, 70, 69.Â

Agreed. Those temps seem pretty high. Especially reaching the 80c mark. I agree with superclocked. May not hurt it short term, but the long term is what I'd be worried about.
Is your desktop in a enclosed area? Like a armoire, or desk? That could have huge impact. All that heat can't escape. I let my son use my PC for a week, while his was down, and there was a big difference in temps. He keeps his in a armoire type desk, while I keep my beside my cabinet. Temps were almost a 20c difference!

I don't think I'd disable hyper threading. Not sure. I'd let a lot of the other tech savvy guys up here advise you on that.

Looks good 2me. My 2600k runs happily at 100c when it does prime95, with a delta fan on front, and some loud fan on the back of it as well. But, 1.5volts and LLC set to extreme so about 1.54 volts actual. It's been running fine. Hyper212+ 104.5 bclk 4.8ghz

But that was in my Antec 1200 case with all 7 fans at full throttle.
They're okay for temps during a stress test, and it's not like your CPU will run at those temps during normal use. I wouldn't let the temps get any higher than that though.

Sure it's running fine now, but if you let it run hot for long periods of time it's going to damage your CPU and as it starts to go you'll either need to increase the voltage to keep it stable or lower the frequency. What's your idle temp and your temps during, say, gaming?
Ok so far guys my games like Planetside 2 are running my CPU around 56,57,58,58, Tomb Raider is hitting 59,62,60,64 that is when the ambient temp increases otherwise it stays in 59 and 60's; Rest of the games are hitting in the 55-57 range on all cores. Ok guys one quick and last question also I have corsair TX 750W 62AMPS on 12+ V Rail is this good for a gtx 690, also my 2700K is overclocked to 4.2GHZ.

1.45 volts with no LLC is way different than 1.5v with LLC set to extreme

Computer is in a closet with a vent in it though. Ambient is 80f-110f.

Try Far Cry 3. My core temps usually peak in the low 80's (deg C) with that game. Even Crysis 3 doesn't stress my PC that much.
