starship troopers - the fps, not the rts
from a technical standpoint, the game is utterly terrible - the level structure was absurdly linear (and not in the, hey that door could really be locked way, but in the the world is not a straight line way), the new enemies were completely stupid and there were numerous technological flaws and failings - the huge numbers of enemies are sustained by having the back end of the swarm being 2D sprites that pop into 3D models when they get close enough, but sometimes they're right on top of you before they pop - even on highend PCs
but i loved the game while i played it, really loved it - it was just really, really bad... because liking and disliking, and good and bad don't always correlate
i won't ever play it again, though
AA:armed assult, was so hyped, u die from 1 bullet about 80 miles away then if your online u have to wait for the next round or single player start from the last save....gamerchris810
Armed Assault was *hyped* as a game for Operation Flashpoint fans, not the general mainstream audience.   It's your own fault for not knowing what the game was before buying it.  Â
Probably Day of Defeat:Source.
Since I loved Half-Life 2 and CS:S, I thought a Multiplayer WWII game by Valve would be great, but I ended being disappointed. The maps were way too small, and there wasn't much variety. Stick to CS and HL2, guys.
[QUOTE="-Karayan-"]I don't buy games I'm not 100% sure of I'll love.monco59
I'm sure you'll miss out on some great games that way.
I don't have that much money to spend on games anyway. And most games come with demos and there are indepth reviews from many websites.

Agreed, but demos can deceive and I never put a lot of stock into reviews, no matter what site they are from. I've had a lot of fun with games that had no demos, got poor reviews and had a subject matter I wasn't into. Life may surprise you my friend ;)Â

i rarely take chances with games either - but i like to think i've just learned to sniff out great games - i have managed to make a few mistakes along the way (being 100% sure is a relative term), but i don't feel i've missed out on any great games
it's reasonably do-ableÂ

i have deus ex for xbox and that game is soooo bad!@ Deus Ex Invisable War for the Xboc wasn't nessesarily that bad a game but yeah it could've been a LOT better, like the whole game felt like everything was made of air, the way too bouncy physics and the judery frame rate when things got livly, and also the game was far too short. and there wasn't a great deal of replay value like the first one.
Unreal Tournament 2003
I should point out that this was the most disappointing game I ever bought, but not the worst. Thankfully Epic put out UT2004, completely redeeming the awful UT2003.
Star Wars: Empire at War. Biggest. Disappointment. EVER.Sgt_So_and_So
I thought that game was quite good. Not the best game, and the land-based RTS game was extremely primitive, but it was a nice throwback to the old homeworld games. The space combat was very enjoyable.

I loved DoD:S, but got over it and haven't played for ever. CSS is the greatest game of all.Â

He wasn't flaming, ArmA is aimed more towards realism than bunny hopping FPS's like Call of Duty. You obviously prefer the latter and should have researched more to avoid buying the former.
In terms of just pure crap gameplay, it's a tie between Master of Orion III and Star Wars: Rebellion. I usually wait a few weeks until I can read forums and get the opinions of people I trust rather than listen to the hype and the idiots who pass themselves off as professional reviewers on gamesites such as this one, but I took a chance on both those two games going on their past lineage.Â
Â
In terms of evil bugginess, Ruins of Myth Dranor wins hands-down. Nothing like having a game screw up on install, hang yoru system and then reboot the machine. I tried to reinstall but got a message saying the game was already installed. When I ran uninstall, the uninstaller wiped my entire hard drive. Thankfully it was the secondary drive and not the boot drive, but it was still f#$%ing annoying.
Â
In terms of "what the hell is wrong with the majority of gamers out there and how could so many people like this crap?", GTA III, or Diablo (hell, anything from Blizzard or Rockstar actually). Throw Homeworld in there too. First game I ever bought and returned on the same day. Pure garbage. It was shortly after this that I stopped paying any credence to reviews from mainstream gaming sites such as this one. Â

Â
There are so many that i cant name them all... very very sad indeed...
Â
One of them was Zoo Tycoon though :cry:Â Do i have to say more?
When i was younger i bought some game called Hype: The Time Quest. It's like all these lego type people with swords and stuff. It was really bad because for some reason the game was really dark and it lagged every 2 seconds. Sometimes the screen wouldnt even load but all the dialouge continued. I played 2 hours of it and thought "i can't be bothered" and packed it away for good.
