What do you think was the worst game in 2010?
Please only pick a game that you have played already yourself and not just what reviews say.

For me its no doubt Gothic4, I tried so hard to enjoy it but give it a chance, but it really felt like a chore to play (as for consoles Madden 11 no doubt).

Its like they took all the best things from Gothic series and threw them out the door and added a bunch of garbage.

So gamespot, what does the pc section think was this years worst game?

AvP was the worst for me. Really only bad game I played. I wasn't a fan of Just Cause 2 either.

Wow, that looks horrible

Just curious.. what did you dislike about ME2?

Well...It was a game with ...minimal effort.

There was no effort in the graphical department. There were many games that tried so hard to look good, Mass Effect 2 was just a mess of ugly textures.

It gimped everything down from the predecessor, the environments are small and tight, there wasn't even a main storyline.

I mean you do party character personal quests in every Bioware game. Where were the main quests? I also didn't like that it was built like a TPS.

*Shooting Stages* were always separated from the *Non shooting stages*

For example in ME, the cidatel was a huge place with traders, NPC's, quests, encounters, you could start a fight there, and it spread across the streets.

Here everything was separated by a loading screen. You were transported to a linear corridor, with lots of crates stacked up and the only way forward is to kill everything.

And then you get a fixed number of experience and rewards, like many TPS do. No looting.

And no game-play variety.

No trading, no stealth mechanics, no different approach to things...

Only two paths to choose from, even marked on for you red/blue.

The game also rewards playing black or white, with the paragon/regenerade points. You are locked out from dialogue options unless you play black or white.

I don't know...Is this really the game many critics awarded a 10/10 and has a 96 on metacritic.

If all you need to get a 10/10 game is some flashy cinematics and some talking, then why did Obsidian bother to create what they did in New Vegas? :o

I just didn't like it all that much. It wasn't horrible, but it was the worst imo that i played. but then i usually don't play many games that don't get postive reviews and have postive feedback from the community.

I don't really care about your other points (some I even agree with) but that right there is just damn insulting...Mass Effect 2 is a VERY pretty game and the graphic artist/designers/ect clearly put tremendous effort into making it that way. I really don't have a problem with you disliking ME2 (I just kinda like it myself)...but don't be such a total **** where you can't even give credit where it's due.

Anyways for me it's probably Elemental...not because it's a bad game but because it was literally and utterly broken for me on release. Really the first game in YEARS that has ran so poorly. The game is shaping up now...but seeing as how just about every other game I purchased this year was awesome, it has to get this dubious honor :P

Dude the texture work in Mass Effect 2 sucked! Nothing looked impressive. The art-style might have been good, but the graphics were sub-par.

You want to see a good looking game on the Unreal Engine, check out Batman AA or Enslaved or Gears.

Even the original Mass Effect looked tons better.

When i see this all I'm reading is "Minimal Effort"

Yeah, I guess everyone else is crazy right? LOL...some folks. Like I said I barely even like ME2 (play it as a 3rd person shooter instead of a RPG), but to claim they made 'minimal effort' on the graphics and presentation is just being a total douche unable to give something they don't like any credit at all.

Anyways have fun with that...

The single player and multiplayer were two completely different games. The single player stands on it own, but the multiplayer is nothing more then a stripped down and unbalanced version of BC2.

The single player was enjoyable, but the game didn't really even start to build a story or atmosphere untill the very end. The single player is also FULL of scripting bugs. I had to actually restart an entire mission because the scripting was broken. Its also very short, only clocks around 4 hours. I remember Black ops being around 6-7 hours.

The multiplayer isn't fun at all for me. Its not balenced properly and the multiplayer maps are all around poorly designed. For a game based on twitch reflex, it should at least have good hit detection.

While Black ops has a ton of issues, I would rather play that then Medal of honor. Not to mention that Black Ops has a lot more content to mess around with.

I'm giving it credit that it's cinematic, and that it has a colorful cast of characters. Graphics are not ME2 strong-side. They are sub-par for a big budget game. A good looking game is Mafia II, Enslaved, Castlevania LOS, Great is Just Cause 2 PC, Metro 2033, God Of War III. Mass effect 2 is way below them.

The worst 2010 game I played on PC was Transformers: War for Cybertron. And it wasn't a bad game, just a competent and forgettable shooter with a Transformers skin. I'm sure they'll get it right next time, the foundation is already solid!

The worst game overall is God of War 2. I really liked the first GoW - until the last two hours and especially the Hades section turned into a sadistic exercise in fffrustration. But GoW2 is on a whole new level of terrible. In the first two minutes it ruined everything I liked about Kratos, it ruined the narrator, it ruined the gods of Olympus and it retroactively ruined the first game for me. It then proceeded to jump the QTE horse and to feature the most terrible and frustrating checkpoints, fights and platforming sequences ever. Also the story is bad. Plus it suffers from "sequelitis" - it tries too hard to make everything even more AWESOME and BIG than before. I hate it with a passion.

Also...

Triple stamp, no erasies, Touch blue make it true!

I agree that the MP suck and that there are some scripting bugs in singleplayer, but the singleplayer is just so much better than what any CoD game could ever produce now. The story actually makes sense. You actually know how and why are you where you are, unlike CoD where they just throw you into a situation and you don't know how you even got there. I hate the multiplayer, but it is really the best modern warfare singleplayer I have played recently. I'm not saying that the game is great, but it is not terrible either.

ArchonOver

wasn't fallout 3 from 2008?

OT: i don't have a disliked game, probably because before i buy a game i make sure if i would like it, so i scout this site (formz) and ask you guys or look it up, many thanks for that.

allthough i made a leap of fate and picked up AvP, which i liked. What can i say i'm an aliens fan boy, the marine campaign was fun, as was the aliens campaign (only a bit short) and i had my fun at the multi, old skool arena battles was something i've missed.

In regards to Mass Effect 2 - at the risk of setting off the hate mines....

Weren't the graphics scaled back to reduce loading times? That was a big complaint on the first game.

High end PC's are expensive and most people don't build their own PC's - sometimes people assume upgrading graphics requires a new computer. Even then, buying a new video card isn't cheap either. Selling games is their priority. So the more accessible the game is...the more money they make.

And the game had to work with the Xbox too - and everyone knows the Xbox makes everything look crappy.

So it could be less about "no effort" and maybe more "accessible to more people".

Just a thought...(holds up white flag)

Well the sp wasn't terrible, i wouldn't call it great imo. It was 4 hrs, there was pretty much was no story. There was some cool set pieces like when you had to defend against these hordes coming down the hills but besides that nothing was amazing in that game.

I'm sorry, that's a poor excuse because they didn't work on the graphics... The game ran at 40 fps on consoles while the standard is 30 fps. You think they couldn't squeeze more out of it? Batman AA, Enslaved, Gears, all use the same engine and they don't look like crap. It's pure laziness, to save funds in every possible field. Save funds on graphics, on level design, who needs big cities, who needs vehicle sections. Are other developers fools trying to make the best game possible?

So it could be less about "no effort" and maybe more "accessible to more people".

Just a thought...(holds up white flag)

I'm sorry, that's a poor excuse because they didn't work on the graphics... The game ran at 40 fps on consoles while the standard is 30 fps. You think they couldn't squeeze more out of it? Batman AA, Enslaved, Gears, all use the same engine and they don't look like crap. It's pure laziness, to save funds in every possible field. Save funds on graphics, on level design, who needs big cities, who needs vehicle sections. Are other developers fools trying to make the best game possible?

I loved Batman AA. I think that's the only game I've played over 5 times. They did do an amazing job on that game. I will say the graphics are amazing on that game.

I'll concede the point - Mass Effect graphics should be better - but I think I'll still enjoy Mass Effect despite the graphics. Especially since I didn't notice it until you pointed it out.

As a musician I can't focus on performances when they are doing something that bugs me. You obviously know a lot about graphic engines and stuff that makes my head spin. "Ignorance is Bliss" - I guess.

[QUOTE="Renevent42"]I've played both, and Mass Effect 2 is still a good looking game. Whatever, keep your delusions if it makes you feel better...I mean Mafia is a more popular game too right?GeneralShowzer

It's not a good looking game. It's sub-par. And if you must know, yes , Mafia is a more popular franchise on PC than Mass Effect...

My eyes...

Get a better video card. It looks nothing like that for me.

This is not my screenshot. This is A screenshot, one of the few in-game screenshots i could find. Find me a better one. But something that shows off the environments, not a close up of someones face.

And I've played the game. It looks as bad as that. Generally.

Mass Effect 2 looks great for me, sure there's a low res texture here or there but I loved the heck out of that game. Maybe you need glasses like me? =P I won't say I had a WORST game but there were some disappointments, Aliens vs Predator was one. By the time I finished the campaigns the online was a ghost town. Kane and Lynch 2 second, a 6 hour story line that was so thin you can just have the wind blow on it and it'll explode, online was dead quickly too, and Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, I beat that in 2 days! After I felt used like a cheap prostitute. =P

I have not bought any bad games really.. If I have to choose one for PC it has to be WoW: Cataclysm.. But it might just because wow has lost its charm and seems like its grasping for every last penny before the end.

But in all fairness I rarely buy brandnew games, I think the only other one I have is Dragon Age from 2010.

For me, Elemental takes the cake. I had high hopes for it. Then I got it, played it, and was dismayed. I never saw a worse AI in my life. I practically steamrolled all over it my first game on the 2nd highest difficulty rating. I shouldn't be able to do that. :( Metro 2033 is another, but for it's buggy steaming pile o' doo doo. Doesn't run for me on either my PC or laptop and after a while of trying to find a solution, I merely put it on the back shelf. Perhaps when I feel like screwing with it some more, this opinion may change. Disciples 3. A let down and it's copyright protection scheme was an extreme fail. Stupid software wouldn't recognize the disk in the drive and took the devs 3 weeks to come out with a patch for it. Asinine.

You know, those ME2 pics, it seems like he has film grain on, maybe you should turn that off if you don't want it to look like Blade Runner.

Mass Effect 2, also one of my least favorite games of all time. It may have high production values, but I couldnt even force myself to finish it.

GeneralShozer ever thought that your PC might just suck? you got ME2 on all the low settings by the look of things, if I set Crysis on low textures it looks like crap!

Guys, I disagree with Showzer's opinion, but I know that it is his opinion. No need to go at him because he has a differing opinion from you. On topic, Medal of Honor. Seriously, what was EA thinking?
