What are some games that you just could not stand in the last few years?? That you bought or that you played at a friends house, what ever.

What games made you shake your head in discust? Or that you wish you didn't buy?

- Gothic 4 = Fails as an rpg and fails even harder as a gothic game, go play risen which is the real gothic 4. One of the worst rpgs ive ever played.

- MW2 = One of the worst online shooters this gen imo, still till this day I cant belive i bought this game. Especially after COD4 which I enjoyed, this game was a step back in every single way possible.

- Operation Flashpoint DR : huge fan of the old Operation Flashpoint, this game was just a slap in the face, sooo boring.

- Alien vs Predator: Not as bad as the games above, but still dissapointed me as I really enjoyed the older Alien vs Predator games on PC.

- Madden11 = Worst football game I have ever played, luckily I was able to sell it used.

- From Dust = Terrible port, the actual game is not bad but the PC port was horrible. Bought this game for my friend's bday and we played about 4 hours on his PC and we were both so dissapointed, wish I would have got him a better game that wasnt such a bad port.

- Saints Row 2 = I liked this game on xbox360 alot, it was silly and what not but alot of fun in coop with a friend. The PC version was horrible though with all the performance issues, one of the worst ports ever imo. Sucks to because I had more fun with this game on xbox360 then I did GTA IV, bad ports can make a good game a bad game unfortunatly. I have heard that there is some new mods that fix alot of the issues with the game (ala Gothic3) I am going to have to try them asap and maybe this game might come off the list.

- Command and Conqueror 4: Love this series but this game is pretty bad. Luckily I got it at a steam sale for 3$ so it does not matter, but yeah horrible entry in the series.

Some of those games are just terrible games no excuses but a few of them are actually pretty good games overall just had horrid porting done when brought fomr another system.

I don't know what a generation is, I don't follow console releases, the only generation I could tell you is my "general" generation :P. The worst game I played this year is Witcher 2, because I played no bad game in 2011, as for the worst few I can remember in the last years, SR 2 the worst port I ever experienced and MW 2 a terrible game on all levels, singleplayer, multiplayer, performance, everything.

Only one I can think of regretting purchasing in recent years (no such thing as "generation" in PC Gaming :P ) is MW2 for the price I bought it for. For a sequel to one of my most favourite shooters of all time it was quite underwhelming.

I generally try to avoid bad games or not play them for long, so I will not be listing really crappy games like Soldier of Fortune: Payback, Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods etc. Besides that : Gears of War : Besides some decent combat which got old pretty soon, didn't find anything good in it. Assassin's Creed : Repetitive nature of the game killed it for me Oblivion : Poor combat, poor game play, dull environments, isolated events and actions, no story or characters worth mentioning etc

Could list loads, but just to name a few: Gothic 4, Dungeon Siege 3, Black Ops, Dead Island.

Hah... I liked Gothic 4, Dragon Rising, and MW2 :o

Thinking of the past number of games I've played, I'd have to say my single largest disappointment is BRINK. The game just didn't feel right. Was very clunky overall, the shooting mechanics didn't feel right, and.. well.. just wasn't fun to play. I was REALLY looking forward to it as well. Probably only played about 5 hours of the game. Homefront was mildly disappointing as well, but I did get some decent mileage out of it.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Such a bland, boring, uninspired, watered down game at least compared to Morrowind.

PC gaming doesn't go in generations thats a console concept, because PC hardware is constantly upgraded. I would have named this topic 'Worst game(s) you have played over the last few years'

Anyways in answer to your question 'Dragon Age 2'

Well the current generation late 2005 - 2011, I've been very picky with my game purchases. I don't think I have bought any really bad games. A quick look at my games list I would say Empire Total War was the worst, but not really. I still put 100 hours into it and played multiple campaigns. It just didn't have the lasting effect my other games do (where I play it again and again over the years).

MW2 multiplayer was a frustrating experience. nade launcher spam, 5 feet knife lunges, getting knifed even though i shot someone numerous times, host migrations etc. Singleplayer and spec ops were ok though.

btw, is madden 11, or any recent madden series on or coming to PC? I want to get back into that series

Nope, I remember back around 1999 I think it was there was a madden game I got, cant remember exact year though.

There has not been any madden games on PC in awhile. Fifa and NBA2k are good though on PC if you like those sports.

If you have a ps3 or xbox Madden 12 is not that bad, but Madden 11 I really didnt like personally (Madden 10 was not bad thoguh).

There are a lot of bad games I've played but Indigo Prophecy has to be the one that made the worst possible impact - it starts off really nice, gives you such good impressions and stuff and half way through the game it feels like the plot itself says "F**k it, go MATRIX" not to mention that the ending has to be the dumbest thing ever ... I would have prefered one of the bad ending where you fail with the morale or whatever it was than that crap ... Hell, even DNF had a better ending (kinda ...) :x

I see, thanks for the info. No PS3 for me, but might get one if prices drop some more.

Playing FIFA 11 right now which is good. I also have NBA 2k11 but don't really play it that much.

This is propably not the worst I've played over the last years, but it's the first one that I think of because I had some hopes for it... Gothic 4. Biggest slap in the face in a long long time.

Dragon Age 2 hurt the most even though it wasn't the worst I played

Fable 3

Witcher

Age of Conan

Vanguard

Half-Life 2

Played some older games for the first time but, I'm guessing you only want modern made games.

Legendary the box, and COD:BO

These are prolly the worst 2 lately. Followed closely by SC: Conviction.

007 Blood Stone was pretty blah as well. (though Quantum of Solace was a pretty good game)

Dragon Age 2 with a side helping of Mass Effect 2. Dragon Age 2 was so bad that, in a weird, b-movie kind of way, it was actually kind of endearing and funny. It's one of those so bad it's kind of good things. I like to compare it to Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus sans Debbie Gibson. I did get bored halfway through the third act but, truth be told, I only lasted about 7 hours in Mass Effect 2 before giving up in disgust.

Honorable mention (or dishonorable as the case may be) goes to Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

I loved Medieval and Rome Total War, really hated Empire/Napoleon because 90% of it was ranged combat (i prefer seeing soldiers fighting in melee) and Shogun 2 it just didnt like playing it.

I liked the singleplayer but multiplayer took a turn for the worse, i thought COD1, UO and COD2 were some of the best multiplayer experiences i had played but MW1 i felt the community had changed plus the whole shooting through walls system im not a fan of.

I thought the multiplayer was amazing, and there is still a strong COD4 community on the PC today. As for the shooting through walls system, I thought it was a great addition that added an extra element of strategy to online matches. Of course you did have the odd few fools who sprayed with LMG's :P

Generally try and avoid playing games that are notoriously bad but two turds caught me by surprise lately.

Pariah - Bad story, bad controls, bad ai, linear narrow corridors with a ridiculous amount of invisible walls and hopelessly derivative weapons (One level in particular which is just a blatant rip-off of the half-life 2 gravity gun). Hearing the enemies spurt the same cheesy drivel every 5 seconds was also gut-wrenchingly abhorrent.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault - Played this for the first time recently and it's clear to see just how far shooters have come in the past ten years. Even the first call of duty released just 2 years later is infinitely better. The enemy ai is just shocking and you will die continuously. They can 'see' and shoot you from the other side of a 100 yard map and have perfect aim. You can be hid behind something out of their view and hear the bullets 'ping' off the surface in front of you. Also had cases of enemies running through walls and respawning right behind me. There was one level in particular where snipers would be hid behind trees or in tiny little alcoves that were impossible to see even with a scope. I would have to autosave after killing each enemy and let myself be shot in the hope of seeing the muzzle flash from where I was being shot. Actually threw my headphones at something after getting so frustrated with this game.

Mafia 2 - more of a city simulation than a game. Its amazing how little game play is actually in it. Assassins Creed 1 was pretty awful. Hated how repetitive it was. Love the sequel though. Softens the blow. Kane and Lynch 2 - only paid $5 for it lol

You listed some pretty good choices.

The most recent game that I played that was really, really bad was Duke Nukem Forever. At first I couldn't believe this game got a 3 on this site so I decided to check it out myself. But after playing it a while I would probably rate it even lower. It wasn't a game, it was torture.
