the gtx 550ti is a joke. for the same money you can get an hd 6790 ot spend 20 bucks more and get an amd hd 7770 which absolutely annihilates it preformance wise. if you want to stick with nvidia you should either settle for lesser settings like default high or bite the bullet and get the gtx 560 which costs noticeably more but will do what you ask. the alternative to both is pray you can find a gtx 460 1gb somewhere on the internet either new or on refurb. in this price point area nvidia has few options atm
option 4 and this is a heck of a wait would be to hold out till september an gat a gts 650 but even then it wont beat a hd 7770's value or the 7750's power consumption

That'd be a non SE GTX460 right? Got mine ages ago but I recall something about a redesign with lower bandwidth.

yea the gtx 460 is even more irrelevant that a gtx 560SE or gtx 550ti all three of those cards are jokes :Pthe gtx 560 SE is basically an hd 6790 with higher power draw, worse OCing, and worse stock fans
the gtx 460's elft in circulation are all regular gtx 460 1gb's for the msot part very few SE's are left cause they were sooo bad
Sorry for my ignorance, I've been out of the PC market for awhile. So nvidia is pretty much junk unless you're getting one of their high-end cards? I don't want to spend $159 if it's a joke, you know. Also I was looking at ionusX's sig and you're using and Sapphire HD 6950, how is that card? I just looked on the web and I can pick one up for around $239-$259. I'm assuming that should be able to run BF3 on ultra or whatere, yeah? I mean it's only $70-$80 more then what I would've spent on a GTX 550 ti.SnakeEyesX80
I would'nt call them junk but my lower threshhold for a gaming card would definitely be a GTX560.
Then again, it varies from person to person. I'm not looking at anything below GTX670 ;)

I love that card! How would this card be? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+AMD+Radeon+HD+7850+2GB+GDDR5+PCI+Express+3.0+Graphics+Card/5539435.p?id=1218652619300&skuId=5539435SnakeEyesX80even with my 6950 @ stock but better at overclocking and less noisy and less power hungry
solid buy but meybe not from there if it can be avoided on teh net its alot cheaper
TC here's a GTX 560 for $170 ($150 after rebate) and it will walk all over that GTX 550ti, a GTX 560 can play BF3 with a mix of high and ultra settings at 1080 at 40+ fps http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127592
But if you have gpu budget of upto $275 then a Nvidia GTX 560ti (448core) or GTX 570 is in that range, but also the AMD 6950 and 7850 are some options too.

Cool, thanks. Yeah I saw that it needs a 500w power supply and 600 for Crossfire!TC here's a GTX 560 for $170 ($150 after rebate) and it will walk all over that GTX 550ti, a GTX 560 can play BF3 with a mix of high and ultra settings at 1080 at 40+ fps http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127592

Nice! Thanks for the link. Yeah I've always been a fan of nvidia cards, which is why I was considering one, but now after doing some reading, the Radeons seems to be pretty nice as well.TC here's a GTX 560 for $170 ($150 after rebate) and it will walk all over that GTX 550ti, a GTX 560 can play BF3 with a mix of high and ultra settings at 1080 at 40+ fps http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127592

Also dont worry about Radeon giving you driver troubles. Sure in the past their drivers werent on par with nvidia but nowdays they are just as good Your options for around $150 are Amd 6850/6870 or nvidia gtx 560 with the 6850 been the cheapest at about $120 and the other two for an extra $25-30 are between 15-25% faster. Still all 3 cards great budget offerings that will allow you to play most games at high settingsPlease Log In to post.
