So, with my new computer I'm getting, I do plan on running Crysis. However, I'm only doinng 800X600, 4XAA, and with the rest of the settings to medium. While I'm not looking for anything mind blowing, will the game still look decent?
crysis will look reasonable with medium settings, going to very high on settings addresses more things regarding shadows and texture detail. the people you fight and kill in the game typically are going to be far enough away from you that you won't be able to notice much of a difference in quality unless you prefer melee style combat, the grass and surroundings look nice but not perfect even on very high, so that shouldn't be a big thing either.
What are your PC specifications and what is the max resolution your monitor supports? I always recommend playing at the highest resolution that you can and disabling AA. Also, any decent new computer should be able to run Crysis on medium settings well. If it can't you're getting a bad PC.
I run Crysis on max setting but on 1024x678 on a Radeon 4850 with 1GB GDDR and 4 GB of system memory and it runs smooth as silk (I can get the rez higher but i start to see frame slowdown).So if your system is anywhere near mine your in for a blast, the game is visually stunning esp the Alien spaceship!!
800 x 600 is a horrific resolution. you might as well play far cry 1, it will look better and play better. not to mention you could get higher settings on that.

800x600 isn't bad at all. I still play my 360 on a sub 480i tv (its closer to 320x240).
that's fricking medium? wow. Yep, what he asked for ;) 800x600. 4xAA. ,all medium, blur 50%(medium)
Here, 1280x768, no AA, same settings, performs slightly better than 800x600 with 4xAA and it looks a lot better in motion, even tho it doesn't look that much better in the screenshots.
