Would upgrading my CPU (see sig below) to an AMD 9950 X4 Phenom black edition make much of a difference? (That is the fastest CPU my motherboard bios recognizes according to the ASUS website and does not support the new Phenom II's) Or should I wait and buy a new motherboard and CPU a little bit later? Thanks.

Yes but I think you should grab a Phenom II 720 instead. If your board has a Phenom bios on it then it will work 100% with Phenom II's. I have tested this with an ASUS 580X motherboard, ASUS GeForce 6100 board(didn't even have a Phenom bios) and a Biostar 740G(did not have phenom bios either). And if you are going to nay say me, show some proof because I will post up mine if I really need too. AMD isn't Intel, their architectures aren't that much different and their boards are much more versatile.

I'd wait if you are just playing games, sure you will get an improvement but is it worth the price difference? I really don't think it is, if you are just playing games. Invest in a graphics card :D

he already has a good graphics card and his cpu will bottleneck him on any future upgrades my 4870 1G was bottle necked by my amd 5600+ 2.8ghz. at 1920x1200(where some ppl claimed cpu bottleneck wouldn't exist) I would upgrade to a phenom II cpu to see any real performance boost if ur absolutely sure u cant then i would rebuild ur pc with an intel cpu a E8400 would be much faster then ur current cpu even at stock speeds.

Unless you're playing games like Supreme Commander, no.
