No, not really. A lot of the charm of these games comes from their graphics. However, when graphics impede gameplay (eg the first warcraft game) then perhaps a remake would improve on the original formula.grarap
Yep, you are right, I still play starcraft and Red alert 1 and like the sounds of "Ready to Roll Out" and "Engineering" from these games.
well ... Diablo 2 remastered, made nicer and released on the Playstation Network (for exemple) i would buy it right away thats for sure
(the bioshock engine is simply Unreal Engine 3 ... you should know this at least plz it's like 2+2=4)
well for RTSs remastered on the Supreme Commander engine (wich i don't know the name) would be awesome, because the maps would be insanely big and big maps + big zoom out + lots of stuff is the only thing to make a good RTS these days ... THE c&c3 engine is not making it compared to supreme commander
I probably will buy them however like other people already said is that the magic back then came with the graphics.
I really loved Warcraft 2 but would it be the same to play it on a new engine ? I didn't think so about Tomb Raider neither but that's just my opinion.
Well, Undying on Unreal engine would be amazing. or even HL 1 on source engine, but I'll doubt they'll do something like this...everson_rm
And yes, if one of my old favorites gets redone with some new power then yes, I would most definitely buy it. I'd love to see Heretic II redone on the Source engine, and AvP2 on the Doom engine would be orgasmic.

I just wet myself thinking how would it look and play......
My decision to buy a remake will depend on the game. If they remake Xcom with a new 3D engine, Ill get it without asking questions. Obviously, the remake has to be an exactreplica of the original game.

There's a mod team working on porting HL1 to the Source Engine. The mod's called Black Mesa.
Anyways, I would love to see Starcraft and Diablo 2 remade in a new engine.

Someone already did the WC II Game using the WCIII editor. They even added in the music. Only difference was the oil drilling removed and dialogue added. I'd like to see River City Ransom re done in a Grand-theft auto type gameplay only with more punches and kicking A--than with shooting. Also I want to see ET redone from the old Atari 2600 days lol.
Some classic games such as X-Wing or Tie Fighter or even Goldeneye. I would buy those games in an instant.Fatality4u
You saw the mess they made of the so called goldeneye sequel right? i wouldnt want them to touch goldeneye.
Undying on a the half life 2 engine, as mentioned previously in this thread, would be cool to play. very cool actually.
wanted to do a quick add. Would love to see Arena and Daggerfall redone.McAndrew_basicI'd love to see Daggerfall done like that, yeah. However, I think it would simply break computers if done on a modern engine. This is a list of the hard drive requirements for full installs for some of the big games released in 1996 (as far as I can tell, at least), from googling around and looking at some boxes I still have lying around. Master of Orion 2 - 75MB C&C Red Alert - 30MB Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries - 62MB Final Doom - 40MB Crusader: No Regret - 30MB Diablo - 5MB? The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall - 450MB. And that was with 2D sprites and low-res everything. :D
Wouldn't remaking a game on a new engine just be a new game? Example - UT = Unreal engine, UT2004 = Unreal engine 2. The entire purpse of maknig a game on a new engine is for improvements, graphical and otherwise. An old game recreated on a new engine would be a new game, unless im missing something.Av177When talking about a remake of an old game, that usually means that all gameplay is the same as it was back then, only with updated graphics. When talking about a sequel people expect to see changes to the gameplay/content
Example: a Warcraft Trilogy on the Warcraft III engine, Undying using either the Half-Life 2 or Bioshock engine, Total Annihilation using the new engine of Supreme Commander, Commander and Conquer Trilogy using the C&C 3 engine.raingod2006
Yes ... yes I would.

Daggerfall remade would probably require all of Bethesda's departments and then some. That game is just way too big to be remade within a reasonable time.
Depends a lot on the game. Some games don't need graphics remakes to be completely awesome, sosimply devising an emulator for them would do (old Zelda and Mario games come to mind).
However, if the game is completely remade, I agree with the above poster:
I would love for remakes to be made of games. What would make it even better I think would be for the package to include the original version of the game, a remastered version (just improved graphics), and then the enhanced edition (improved graphics, content and gameplay). That way, you could have many different experiences with the game.woolysockofdoom
It would have to be an old game that is still fun, not an old game that was fun 10 years ago. IE: Mario Bros on the GBA was well worth it.
Also, the developers shouldn't **** with the game if it's already good. IE: don't take the elements that made the game great and totally remove or revamp them. Also, a lot of old games are short, so they'd have to add on new content that's good or put the game at a cheaper price.
