I just played some of this game thinking it was going to be another war shooter and it.....feels much different. I can flank and the destructable environments makes for intense escaping. Really suprised and at like $5 it was a steal.

Its a good game although you should try BF2 if you want to try a slightly more complex FPS.Shadowhawk000
or BF2142. they will look outdated, and they won't play just as good as BC2, but they have way bigger maps and they really are slightly more complex (commanders and stuff). definetly still worth checking out if you are new to Battlefields.
but yeah, BFs > CoDs.
Cod is too individualistic. Its every player running around trying to be the man. BC2 is a team effort which I prefer. Unfortunately its hard to get a bunch of gaming kids to work as a team. I find that if you don't do the objectives yourself, it just doesnt get done because too many kids are hiding in the bushes sniping. I'll still take BC2 over Cod any day. No comparison in terms of quality.

I couldn't possibly agree more. Once you play Bad Company 2, it's hard to ever play and stick with a Call of Duty game.

I've never liked BF2. I hate hitting ppl with gernades and such and not killing them. I'm a Tribes player myself. It's not better IMO, it's just different.
The only two things I know how to do are running and gunning, so I love COD. I'm a lone wolf. But in BC2 I do my best to help the team - even if I kinda lack initiative. I stick to my squad, always spot, always share kits etc... It's about respect lol.

On Steam a few days ago it was being sold for about $6.80, which isn't far from $5. I'm not sure that's what he's referring to, though. It's always possible with these crazy deals going around that there was an even better sale I missed!

Steam....as someone else said I think it was technically $6.80, but I rouned it. $5 was close enough, I only missed a $1.80.[QUOTE="GenericUser12"]watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcZ3wXF3r14I'm downloading it now, I just hope the community is more mature than what they appear to be.

I got it a couple of days ago and i still cant believe how good the graphics are, really i've never seen anything look so amazing on such a large scale. The destructable environments make the game very interesting and more difficult and they did a great job on it. I really recommend hardcore mode though, its a lot more realistic and you dont have to unload a whole mag to kill someone like you do on standard mode. I find the sniping tough though, and the thing i dont get is that you basically have to get a headshot otherwise its not a 1 shot kill :S. Anyways great game!
i also prefer bad company. the only problem i have with it is that i hate vehicles. i am an infantry kind of guy so i never want to drive or get into any vehicle so getting around is a pain. I loved bf2's infantry only strike at kirkand. it made me feel like part of something bigger. my only problem is when half he team goes snipers. I hate being sniped and i hate seeing my teamates just sit back and do nothing.

lol that was great. All that video showed me is how much slower paced things are on console version of games. Christ, if I pulled half the moves those guys did I'd be dead in 1 second, not flanking the guy and killing him lol

I don't know how people play the sniper campfest known as "hardcore". Anyway...
Sniping in HC is just point and click if you use magnum ammo. I also never understand the complaints about it taking an entire magazine to kill in normal. I can easily kill at least 3 people with a 30 round mag.

I've never liked BF2. I hate hitting ppl with gernades and such and not killing them. I'm a Tribes player myself. haha seriously? if there's one thing that remained constant on bf2, it was that grenades were going to kill anyone in its radius.Bad Company 2 has its pluses and minuses. I think you need to play more of the game before reaching a final conclusion, because there's a lot of things that can get really annoying about it. For example, the hit detection is awful compared to any CoD. And for a shooter to fall flat in that regard really damages the game as a whole. DICE has never gotten that part right, and BF2 and 2142 weren't much better.
Dynamic environments are also great until your team kinda sucks, and after a stalemate for a few minutes.. well you no longer have nearly as many places to hide. Combine that with the fact that you can't go prone, and a lot of the environment cover doesn't really protect you and your team huddling behind it when everyone's crouched... bah.
I also get tired of how many people snipe on assault, ruining your team's chances of getting anywhere when only a few people are actually going for the objectives. At least with CoD, a couple people can carry a team, so if you do well you have a chance of winning even if everyone else is doing poorly. That's really not going to happen in BC2.
Still, there's lots to like and the game has a very different feel from anything else out there, so it is a unique experience.
Depends on the taste....I just played some of this game thinking it was going to be another war shooter and it.....feels much different. I can flank and the destructable environments makes for intense escaping. Really suprised and at like $5 it was a steal.

agreed. My problem is all my friends play cod on the 360. So I'm dl BFBC2 from steam now. I finished it on the 360 and though it was the best shooter yet. Only thing its missing is being able to lay prone if I remeber correct. COD drives me crazy with everyone running around like a chicken with thier heads cut off and spawning right on top of everything.

First level was OK.
I actually hoped the Black Weapon would turn out to be a super-awesome sci-fi device (and tie in with the inevitable Battlefield 2143 featuring aliens). But then it was revealed it's a scalar weapon. Of the lame variety, as opposed to the bloody awesome ones.
while bfbc2 blows cod out of the water...bf2 and bf2142 blow it out of the water...but they are all amazing games...

I've never played through the enitre campaign. It might as well not exist to be honest.
How is BC2 a team game? You have poor mic support and when you try and be all stealthy as a sniper, crawling through the grass, taking critical shots.....and then the illusion is just broken when a friendly jeep drives over you. Beep Beep! If you're lucky they might through a beer can out the back and then drive into the water calling "surfs up" and then throw a copy of the movie Surfs Up at you. No sign of Shia labouf in this game. The SP is also poor. biggest_loser
you can never get rid of noobs/kids, no matter what game, but you have to agree that it's more of a team game than CoD...
the SP really is poor, but i wouldn't even care if they would've left it out completely. it sucks in CoDs too. pointless scripted rail shooters.

ok sure, but i just mean that the emphasis on both games seems to be on the multiplayer mode.
I find it hard to compare the games, although I think Bad Company 2 is far more impressive. I've put 94 hours and counting into BC 2's multiplayer which is more than I put into COD 6 and 7 combined. I still play it regularly as well.
It simply has more depth of gameplay, the depth in the recent call of duty games comes from the customization, but the actual gameplay has stagnated to an extreme. It has no depth at all. The gameplay and customization spirals around a non-existent core, you play to unlock gear which you use to play, but really there is no point at all.
But the COD games still have their place for those who just want the raw satisfaction of being faster and luckier than the other guys, although I find this cannot counter the joy of moving with a well coordinated team in BC 2 and working to beat the enemy team.

You can spot enemies and they remain displayed in the hud and the minimap for a few seconds to the knowledge of all your team mates. You can heal and revive teanmates, you can resuply their ammunition, you can repair their vehicles and help to identify enemy forces with detectors; most of vehicles are also designed to carry at least 2 players, with gunner assist functions to the crew. Is also a very rock-paper-scissors game, in the sense that you need that your team mates and yourself to adapt fastly to the circomstances, changing from assault, saboteur, medic or anti-vehicle roles to another ones in order to face the changing nature of the enemy menace at any time.
Of course you can ignore all those task and play the lone wolf role as in a typical COD game... but will end with your team crushed. About the mic communications, most of servers are financed by clans and they use Team Speak/Ventrilo whose channels are reported to the public.

I dont know what servers your playing on but in most of my games it seems there are a lot less snipers than those playing other classes like assault and medic for instance...I dislike driving vehicles as well, but if you have a vehicle at your disposal, USE IT!! its one of the most inconsistent games I have played. probably due to the frostbite engine. The hit markers are all over the place, there always seems to be this lag not game ruining but annoying. the perks and unlocks make being a new player just more difficult than it should be.
I got that spectat visual thing for free (doing the recycle thing) and luckily it gave me free unlocks lol. I own both 360 and pc and pc is a lot better, and Im guessing you picked it up from steam sale :)

my only attempts to learn how to use vehicles in battlefield games come from two experiences. once, i flew a helicopter promptly off the carrier and right into the ocean in battlefield 2. The other time, in battlefield vietnam, i was playing bots, and it just so happened that right when i took off in a jet, i crashed into a bot jet flying past me. Not very good experiences :P
i do have to admit that my best stint in any battlefield game did come from a helicopter war where i rode second seat to a driver and went on a killing spree while taking down a few other copters. That was really rewarding.
