E3, like EA, like cnet, turned towards the later. Which is really sad.
Companies like Nintendo, Mythic and noumerous others seem to have a passion for gaming and that's why you usualy see their games more entertaing.
Can't wait to see how warhammer 40k turns out. :)

Here's the stupidity with the new format of E3, they relocate to cut cost so smaller company could have a stand, but they only invite major publishing houses & know semi independent developers like valve or ID.
I agree that having a bunch of dumb game store employees running warranted filtering the audience, but not at this level
Bet they'll talk more about their stock portfolio than actual games and technology

I played God of War at my friends house, by myself, for a good two hours, and the only thing I got out of it was a heap of killings, annoying mini games, and some unneeded porn to cap things off. So what, do I need to play for another two hours to "get into" the game?
Actually, most of the 'picking on' I see is towards Sony. I've never seen more negativism towards a single product by people who don't own it. I myself bashed the heck outa the PS2, but it really was a piece of junk. Look, I've been playing Nintendo games since the 80's and their only real innovation has been the wiimote. However, I stopped giving my money to Nintendo after being disappointed again and again by their weak, Mario/Zelda-centric line-up. I've been playing these games FOR 20 YEARS, for gosh sakes. My tastes have changed, personally. People call them 'kiddy' games because they played them when they were kids, like myself. Sure, adults can play them, too, but some of us have different tastes than when we were 12. Though I do really enjoy Wii Sports and it is almost enough to buy the system, every time I look at Wii titles, upcoming and current, on any website, all I see are Mario and Zelda, as far as games with an aggregate rating > 70 %.I agree with everyone else that I don't like the new E3.

Anyone who refers to themself as "hardcore" is very arrogant. I play tons of PC games and I like mario games just as much. Its not the type of game you play, its the passion you have for the games.

It's not passion which drives Nintendo to create Mario games, it's because people at Nintendo are money whores who just want a buck. Though many Nintendo games are made with passion but not those which belong to the Mario franchise... Really, how many Mario games are there? Lost credablity? I'm sorry you can't look beyond the surface of the game to see what you are really playing. The sex in GoW is gratitutous and completely uncalled for, as are the fatalities and horrendous methods by which you go about killing things. GoW isn't about the story of Kratos. It's about going around killing things in the most awful, brutal, uncalled for manner possible. SONY put those things in the game for shock value and to try and cover up the fact that what they have is just a medicore action adventure title with a weak script that is only able to stand because it's acted out by good voice actors.
As far as the hyocrisy goes, you have to explain yourself, because I see nothing hypocritical about it.

Exactly, the video game industry like it or not is big business. Every company mentioned above is out to get your money. Yes.. some companies may appeal to a specific genre of gaming, yes some companies may have a different approach as their competitors but that is business strategy. Each gaming company tries to do something different in order to get an edge on the market.
To those that say "God of War" or "GTA" is too violent etc, thats fine don't purchase it.. thats your right as a consumer. But obviously people do enjoy it and do purchase it. You have to look at the industry as a statistic regarding certain video games.. If a certain game sells x amount of units for x amount of dollars there will be many more like that game and that franchise will take off.
To make it a long story short, all businesses are money whores.

The loss of credibility comes from the fact that you are writing off a game because it is violent and has nudity. The game is much deeper than gore and women, the story is engaging and takes you on a very cinematic adventure and it just happens to be your opinion that you don't like it.

Its true that kids need games too and good for you cerza for enjoying them too, but to bash Sony for having some violent games on its system is stupid. I really see nothing wrong with Violence/Nudity(ever been to Europe)/Language in games. I mean common you can't go see a movie without a good gun fight and a nude scene cause there's sooo little of them, why should games be any different as a mainstream form of entertainment. I mean if you were in a middle of a gun fight with aliens or terrorists you wouldn't say "gosh I'm out of ammo, well aint that a bummer", so using real "foul" language adds to the atmosphere, every play CoH, the engineers, scripts are great, when you annoy them.

This is completely stupid statement, yeah clearly thats why games such as Mario Brothers 3 is in the best games of all time hall of fame where many ADULTS still play that game to this day because its fun. Hell little children play football as numerous other more simple sports that adults play all the time.. I find it hard to believe that games such as Mario Super world is only appealing to children when its gameplay can be compared to many more adult games...
I am by no means a fanboy but I fail to see your point when those numerous "childrens" games get higher rated by adults then your more "mature" games. And the irony in this is the fact that its usually early teens that say this to begin with...
I've never understood why people like Mario and Zeldaso much, but I have nothing against the franchise.
Really, I maybe played 1 Mario game in my life, and it was for the gameboy. It was just a... a... time-passing game. That was never my thing.

Also, I think that we should move the discussion back to E3. People defended sony and nintendo by saying that every company wants to earn money. But how they do it and how hard focus solely on that is what differs them. It's just like toy making. Some comapanies will try to get rid of their competitors, aggressively market they toys, use low-quality resources secretly, while others are doing toys for the people, for the sake of having fun. I'm not saying that's the case, but the reality is in the sense of this.

fully agree about Valve. You just have to play their games to see the amount of care and time they put into their games. Nintendo used to be passionate about gaming but now thye just release old stuff over and over it seems. I agree with everyone else that I don't like the new E3.
SONY is the one people should be bashing here, NOT Nintendo. SONY is just in it for the money. They don't care about class or quality and they proved this at last years E3 and with their trashy PS3. But, oh no, no one ever bashes them, because they bring console gamers such "quality" and "mature" titles like God of War, which is just senseless violence, and GTA, which is just smut. Then there is little Nintendo, who everyone picks on, because they still have class and some what of a passion for what they are doing. They seek to make their games fun and enjoyable to people of ALL ages so EVERYONE can enjoy them. They refine their products, even the blatant cash in ones such Smash Bros., Mario Golf, Mario Kart, and so on. Some of those are Nintendo's best sellers, and what's best of all is they don't pump out a new one every year that is the same game as before with one or two new added features and slightly better graphics like EA, Microsoft, and SONY do. Nintendo isn't for little boys. Nintendo is for everyone, and by saying Nintendo is just for kids all you are doing is showing how shallow, stuck in the past, and immature you are.

GTA isnt just smut its one of the greatest games ever its funny its fun its aried its clever and the smut and violance in it is just a reflection of real life.If you cant handle the sex and violance that exists in reality dont play it. Companies have changed. I remember when a pc games where just made by a tiny group of people who just made them for the fun and challange of it now its completly commercial. it wasnt always like that.

Lost credablity? I'm sorry you can't look beyond the surface of the game to see what you are really playing. The sex in GoW is gratitutous and completely uncalled for, as are the fatalities and horrendous methods by which you go about killing things. GoW isn't about the story of Kratos. It's about going around killing things in the most awful, brutal, uncalled for manner possible. SONY put those things in the game for shock value and to try and cover up the fact that what they have is just a medicore action adventure title with a weak script that is only able to stand because it's acted out by good voice actors.
As far as the hyocrisy goes, you have to explain yourself, because I see nothing hypocritical about it.
The point of my post wasn't to piss people off. The point was that people pick on Nintendo and label them as being childish because they don't make a point of having ultra violent games, or smut titles on their systems. Instead they choose to make games that anyone can enjoy and everyone puts them down for it.
The loss of credibility comes from the fact that you are writing off a game because it is violent and has nudity. The game is much deeper than gore and women, the story is engaging and takes you on a very cinematic adventure and it just happens to be your opinion that you don't like it.
What pisses me off about your statements is that you are singling out Sony, and stating that they made the decision to add these things, that Sony and Sony alone create games with senseless blood and gore and that is so far from the truth. Rockstar makes the most violent games, notably Manhunt, and Sony, the bloodsucking evil empire that apparently encourages tasteless violence is agreeing that it should be banned.
Your statements reek of anti-Sony sentiments and that truly disgusts me.

Dude whats your problem? R u a kid, a puritanic, a Nintendo undercover agent or just plain dumb and trolling? GoW is one of the greatest games of all time andthe violence is a byproduct of the story (that is extremelly well told and put together). If u have any idea of what isGreek mythology u should know that violence is a recurring theme, so what could u expect from sucha game? If u r calling the cutscenes where Kratos' wife appear "sexually gratuitous" u have serious issues with sex and r not following the story, in wich those scenes (that i could call at the most "sensual")r essencial to understand their relationship.
And finally,at the very least u should notice that God Of War is rated M for mature. So if u r too squirmish to play this kind of game keep it to yourself (I'm better off dont knowing it).

I'm thinking it's especially ironic that E3 was changed from the way it was because it had become all about the money and big flashy shows, at the expense of the developers and the games themselves.
