WOW Far Cry is really worth a free download...

I played Far Cry when it was released but it was sooo hard and it put me off. However i gave it another go and i'll admit i have it on easy and it's still the hardest FPS i've ever played. The games just one of the best FPS i've played since the original HL. The islands are well designed and still to this day look gorgeous, which is good for a game that was basically ready for release fall of 2003 (thought released early 2004) just the fact everything is 3D and no like 2d backgrounds apart fromt he sky.

It gives you sooo much freedom and turns from like a normal action game to Jurassic park to Doom and back again to what i was before, though i'm only 4 hours into it and i'm destroying some radar jamming things on a GIANT level lol.


But yeah welcome to 2004 lol.

Far Cry is also one of my favorit fps games of all time.

Even though its from 2004 there isnt really anything like it, stalker comes close.

No this is a much better game than Stalker, that game was released half finished even though it was being made for like 20 years and then the developers dumped it to make a new buggy Stalker 2.Grantelicious

Yeah far cry is better then stalker, but i still enjoyed stalker a lot. And so far ive had the most fun in stalker this year compared to other fps games released this year.

And if you guys dont like the ads, then just buy the game :) Its very cheap now.

Just set it to US and it worked

yeah far cry was a great game,but saying that the a game is worth downloading for free is not a great praise for a game :)

I am in the UK, using the free version, get those dumb McDonalds adds.

Ya, Far Cry is definately one of the top shooters in the past few years. Everyone complains about the mutants, however (Including the devs from what Ive read), but they didnt ruin the game in the least. I think people just dont like the change but I found them quite challenging...if you dont hear them coming, they can get up on you and take you out in one or two swipes.mrbojangles25

Agreed. STALKER is the most fun game I've played all year. Comparing it to Far Cry is tough since STALKER has more RPG elements, IMO neither is "better", or I'd have to give a slight edge to STALKER.

Far Cry did, and still does, totally rock though!!! :D It's an awesome game. I was re-interested in it once I had 64-bit Vista (using the 64-bit patch) :) Yah, it's very cheap now. Through various promotions, free game includes, plus my first copy that I bought, I have plenty and definitely don't need the ad-supported version, but that's very cool for some people.

Thats true, and I blam that on the AI. With the mercs, you could ambush them, run away, hide, and then ambush again in addition to flanking them. They would chase you, then slowly walk around looking for you. It added some depth to the game, especially when in a wide open jungle.

With the mutants, only two things could happen: they see you and bull rush you until you die or they die, or you get the jump on them.

Where were you? They are offering games for free from the companies themselves...

FarCry is definately a great game. Even by todays standards it still stands up both in terms of gameplay and graphics.

Very difficult game as well, although it was good fun shooting those mercs. I found things got a bit annoying when the monsters came along though.

Far Cry is an amazing game, but the mutants felt misplaced. I hope with the aliens in Crysis, Crytek do a better job. _Pedro_

I'm pretty sure they are in the process of making the same mistake again actually ... first you fight against military, then at some point you start to fight aliens ... pretty messed up if you ask me and hey isn't that exactly like in Far Cry?

I had hoped for a no-aliens no-bullcrap Far Cry sequel, so perhaps Far Cry 2 will be a better bet.

Edit: By the way, I've just tried this free version Far Cry and the ads seriously sucka bigtime... I hope they won't do this for other games, I rather pay than to look at these things over and over again.

If you have the free version and are sick of seeing ads run FRAPS while playing, it some how disables them :? (I get over 100 FPS running this game maxed out btw. :) ) I only played the xbox version and missed out on the PC version when it was released but now I finally get to play this game and I'm loving it so far :D

The Far Cry multiplayer features are great. Only one problem.. To play multiplayer for Far Cry you need to create a Ubisoft account AND patch your Far Cry game to the latest version. Otherwise you can't join any servers. It took a while downloading those patches from Filefront but it was worth it. The maps are graphically rich and there are three types of gameplay modes.

-Assault: Capture the other team's flag points to win, or defend your flag points from the attacking team. You can choose three types of soldiers in this one; Grunt, Sniper, and Support. Grunts use the heavy weaponry while the snipers stay behind and shoot. Support is one of my favorites; you build strategic bunkers, walls and mini guns so your team can use them to defend the flag. Support can also level buildings and towers with c4.

-Free-for-All: You basically wander around the map picking up weapons and shooting people that cross your path. All you do in this mode is kill people.

-Team Deathmatch: Same thing as FFA except you are in teams and to win you kill the other players in the other team. Pretty fun but be careful not to teamkill!
