It's fully customizeable, and my build ends up around $1900. That's really low for the hardware in it me thinks.

Anyone have any experience with HP laptops, like are they good machines, and do they have good customer service? Also, opinions of this possible purchase would be much apreciated :D

It's basically the same thing in a lighter weight, smaller form. Faster processor, same graphics card...

honestly, build a desktop of equal power, then buy a cheapie laptop to drag around for little things like browsing on the go. took me 2 years to find out this is the best way to do it.

Thing is, if I don't get a laptop, I don't get it paid for. I'll build my own PC this summer after I save some money. I want a good laptop anyway...

Oh, and another thing, is the 9600M GT a good card? How does it stack up to the 8600M GT?

Your not giving me a news flash that the other one is faster. Its ALOT less reliable, people report having all kinds of issues with the faster one. He can buy a faster processor, a Wolfdale core for like $300.

meh I am using it and am not having a problem. From what I have seen as long as u use a cooling stand like this one and if people bother reading a manual for a laptop it recommends using a cooling tray u really won't have a problem.

Yes, but the faster laptop, the $1350 one has many reported issues. Some are important like the screen. Plus, for $1250, the other one is a steal, you can buy a new wolfdale processor for it, because alot of hardcore laptop gamers have. One of my friends was considering upgrading the processor in it, it is very easy to access it in the Gateway.

WOLFDale in a laptop ? how is that possible ? A 45nm 3.1ghz to 3.3Ghz to fit inside a laptop explain ?
The only cpu you can call wolfdale is E8200 / E8400 / E8500 and E8200 is 25 % behind is E8400 Siblings
in most of benchmark example : Call of duty 4 / Oblivion / world in conflict / company of heroes
let say in compay of heroes E8200 get like 40fps. the E8400 get 55/60fps not overclocked
And E7200 is hell weaker then E8200 ect. cause E7200 = baby wolfdale less consumation tough and heat generation i bet
a wofldale into a laptop sound a thing impossible if it does. wow. i wonder if it work well cause a WOLFDALE in a laptop you'r the first to say so don't get confuse beetween student book pc with wolfdale.. and.... Laptop

i know how ever that laptop as Started for intel to make possible for user who pay high : like 2500$+ for a laptop
2.8ghz Quad core +

In my price range, I've narrowed it down to the gateway from Best Buy, the HP in the origional post, and the Dell XPS M1530. The Gateway and the HP have the same video card, and the HP has a better processor and is more compact, so that seems like the best option....

EDIT: plus the HP has a free upgrade to Blue-ray :D

Yeah, that's what I don't really like about the Dell is that the best card you can get in it is the 8600 GT, that's why the HP or the Gateway would be better
