Maybe, but so does:
School
Alcohol
Marijuana
Drugs
Medication
Relationships
TV
Books
So I figure I do all those things (except medication and drugs), so what is WoW piled on top gonna do anyway, right? Time to get back to my Troll Shaman...must....play...been...3 minutes!
[QUOTE="dchan01"]Anything addictive has the potential to do this. It was a bit disturbing. I took a game design class taught by a guy who works at Blizzard and there was an awful lot of talk/study aboutaddiction and addictive properties in that class.Vfanek
Details?
We learned about some interesting studies where hamsters are sent through a maze that at the end may have cheese. The study found that hamsters that only received cheese at the end of the maze a fraction of the time were more determined to get to the finish on subsequent runs than those who received cheese 100% of the time. (not due to hunger factors) There is something addictive at the animal level about the element of chance/scarcity. This impacted the way the "drop"style reward system was implemented in Diablo. So next time you are sitting around hoping for a drop in WoW, remember, you and a hamster have more in common than you might think.
WOW is not a bad game like some stupid people thinks, it's by far the best MMO I've played. I played it for 2 years and didn't have any trouble quiting. The game is not addictive and doesn't destroy normal people.ikwal
Agreed. Leave it up to the drones of children who post here to jump on the "WoW hating" bandwagon.
WoW is a kind of games that you can just logg in and play for a few minutes or as long as you want, maybe thats why WoW is so addicting......WoW doesnt take hard work like any other games out there, and anyone can play the game without alot of learnning or practicing, no skills needed.....thats just opinion.
