Got a Question, its about PVP on Normal servers. do you have to flag someone to duel? or can you just run up to someone around your level and Gank them?

ive "Rerolled" on a normal server to play witha freind, and i wanna do loads of PVP though and murder some Hordies (and Bloodelfs)

No, you can only attack someone that has a PVP flag on them or you can turn your PVP flag on and run into enemy territory.

On "Normal" servers you can only attack an opposing faction member if they have set their own PvP flag. You can attack anyone if you challenge them to a duel and they accept. If someone engages in PvP activity (fighting an opposing faction member or attacking PvP flagged NPCs like in towns) their PvP flag remains set for about 5 minutes and they can't turn it off.

Ganking is lame, but for the sake of full information: If you set your own PvP flag and someone attacks you, you can fight with them. People have been known to abuse this by standing around another player's mob fight until they catch some AoE damage and then attacking. Another trick is to stand in front of someone's bobber when they are fishing so they click you instead of the bobber, starting a fight.
