I am an ex-WoW player. I quit for the one reason that I disconnected frequentely, making it very hard to join groups, it lagged like hell and, well...the graphics were just plain . Anyway, I never really got the answer to WHY it disconnected but now I am getting a new (good) computer and I want to start again, hopefully this time it works. Here are the new computers requirments:

INTEL CORE 2 DUOE E2 180 2.2Ghz.

GA-945 GCM(X)-S2 GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARD

SOUND & DISPLAY 800FSB 8xAGP SLOT DDR2 RAM SLOTS

1GB DDR2 667 Mhz.

Plus the guy is throwing in an extra GB of ram to make it 2GB.

Ok, so does anyone know if these requirments meet the reccomended WoW ones. I don't want to find out that something is wrong and I have to quit again. :(

Reply Please :D

What were the specs on your old computer? WoW has very low system requirements. If you were experiencing disconnect problems, it was most lkely a problem with your internet connection. Are you on dialup? Or, do you have a router? Was your firewall configured properly?

Also, I don't really understand your display specs there. What video card will your machine have? "SOUND & DISPLAY 800FSB 8xAGP" That doesnt mean anything

Honestly WoW's system req's are so low that basically any computer built withing the last like four years can run it fine (and that one you posted will too undoubtedly).

Your connection issues could a result of a bad connection or your internet, or a problem with Blizzard's servers.

Assuming that THIS is your motherboard, i'm not sure where you got "8x AGP" in the specs. Anyway IF your not going to play much else other than WoW, then that setup should be fine. It'll even run pretty well with that weak onboard Intel media accelerator. However if you want to play at a high resolultion and settings you might want to consider getting a dedicated graphics card.

Though if you were getting disconnected frequently, getting a new PC may not fix the problem since it's generally cause by your interent connection.

Thanks all for your feedback. It never used to disconnect pre-bc strangely enough...but I keep getting told the expansion isn't the problem. I've just got the basic modem so no problems there, no firewall and the internet runs fine. It only internet programs (Skype, WoW, Any PC games played online) that disconnect. Also I just wrote what was on the computer sheet, I am not too good with computer language so I'm not quite sure what anything means and hoping you would. Anyway, Ill get the computer as it is, if it still disconnects then I will consult my ISP and mess around with any programs that might be causing this.

Hmm....just one thing.

What and how many mods do you have installed? Some mods can cause the disconnects you are referring, especially if they were not properly updated for the expansion. I've run into a few odd problems with wow mods myself. I had an interface mod that would cause me to disconnect whenever I used the priest ability "inner focus". ONLY that ability. It was the strangest thing. So I had to get rid of the mod.

I had 'Cartographer' mod and that was it. My freind had it also and it worked fine for him so I doubt thats it. I know this is getting a bit off-topic considering were in the hardware discussion but would a saftey filter ('Safe Eyes' the one on the computer is called) have any chance in disconnect internet using programs. It doesn't come up with an Allow/Block screen or anything but this filter was put on around the same time as I got the expansion and experienced these problems.
