I upgraded my hard drive, and in order to make it fit, I had to remove the two 512 sticks of RAM (DDR400) to make room for it. I put the RAM back in the slots (and I am 100% sure that they are locked in) but Windows only says I have 512 megs! What the hell happened! Thanks for the help!

If you had to take out the ram inorder to "make room for the hard drive" I would think maybe it some how knocked it out of place or something. Or pushes against it while it's closed maybe or something? Maybe just try switching the sticks between the 2 slots again and seeing if maybe it has any effect. Also check for dust/ anything that might block anything inside the case.

I am a noob so try not to take my suggestions too seriously.

Just take them out and try putting them back in again. If your mobo has 4 slots, try switching them to the other two, make sure they are on the same color banks though.
