It is 729.90 after all the combos, taxes, and shipping. And it is worse...
I wouldn't get a Dell even if it was cheaper. When I built this computer, I was thinking quality over power. Quality PSU, motherboard, memory, and case.
Even if building the computer yourself is more expensive, the personal attachment to your computer and the ability to pick the parts and quality level makes up for it a lot.

So how are newegg parts necessarily higher quality than Dell parts. Theres a reason why Dell is the largest PC maker in the world, people would not keep buying Dells if they use crap quality parts that fails after 1 year or use.
The Dell comes with an 80gb HD...upgrade that to 500gb and you're looking at about the same price...
I assume you went with a HD bigger than 80gb...
D9-THC
You don't have to upgrade the HD from Dell, Dimension 9200/XPS 410 have 3 3.5" slots, just buy a new 500GB from newegg for $100-110 and plug that in

Don't Newegg have some kind of return policy, seems like that Dell is still a better deal even if you have to eat the 15% restocking fee from Newegg.

$100 spent is $100 spent...regardless of semantics.

the point is $800 for a Q6600, 2GB, 500GB HD, 8600GT is a much better deal than that newegg computer for $700

However, given the fact that Dell uses a BIOS that doesn't allow overclocking and the case is probably (though I have no idea) too small to ever upgrade to an 8800 or higher videocard, the $700 rig with future expandability becomes a "better buy."

You can fit an 8800 in it, but the cpu is a pain to replace cause it is under a plastic cover. The Dell you want to order comes with 8300grphx--- 17" monitor and 667mhz RAM. You could build your system for the same$$$ with a intel 6600---8600GTS $160--- bigger monitor at least 19" $150---- and DDR2 800mhz $80 from newegg.
So WTF are YOU talking about?
