There's a reason that specific genre is hard to find.

dont know about you, but that sounds fun to me. if done right with the right dramatic musics, effects, and stuff, a WW1 charge could be pretty epic. ever play Call of Duty's Russian campaign? The red square mission is my favorite in the whole game, its done so well, that even though you are supposed to stop and talk to a sergeant, i keep charging along with my fellow comrades and see how far i can get. imagine what an intense melee combat mini-game a talented developer could make out of storming a trench?
to the topic creator there is a WW1 game coming in 2008. its unreal engine 3 powered i believe and it sounds pretty awesome.

its called "To End All Wars" and is for PS3 and Xbox 360. keep an eye on it.
The closest thing is 'Ironstorm' where there is a premise that WWI (or is it WWII?, but I think it's WWI) went for 70 years and is ongoing. Cheap as chips now and comes recommended.

Not really, no.
Agreed. I'm not sure I fancy that idea either tbh.

It was WW1 that never ended. Ithas trenches for the first couple of levels but that's really it.The closest thing is 'Ironstorm' where there is a premise that WWI (or is it WWII?, but I think it's WWI) went for 70 years and is ongoing. Cheap as chips now and comes recommended.
