looks like they made both of these aspects of the game much more easiler to understand and control.

This game looks absolutely amazing. Every single aspect of the game has been reworked so it's just as deep as before yet is a lot less intimidating and a lot easier and familiar for players.
I almost feel this is too good to be true.
I tried playing some X3 Albion Prelude lately but it's so complex and cumbersome it's hard to play.

what have you been trying to do in the game?
I'm impressed! I remember tring to get into X3 reunion, and just not having the time to sink into it. This game looks far more engaging! Looking forward to this.

what have you been trying to do in the game?
Everything. The UI doesn't help. I set up automated trading routes and whatnot. Just general useability is really low. Stuff isn't that logical.

It's really not that bad, once you get the hang of it that video makes things actually look more complicated then they already are :PNever ever preorder games. Word from the wise. All of the things released about this game looks awesome, im just hoping the game will deliver on release. Not preordering though, too many games released lately, that weren't similar to pre release footage at all, make me stay my hand.

pretty much this.
the game can be fun, but the amount of work you need to put in to make it so, is simply not worth it. It'd be like being a part-time student and having a part-time job just so you could learn to play a game.

lol I do use it, still takes a while.
Anyway, enough bashing on my part. I really do love the game/series, I just do not have the time and willpower to play games such as this any more.
Hopefully Rebirth will change this :) And hold me over until Star Citizen.
Dug through my cardboard box of oldies, nothing really held me over for long...Tachyon: The Fringe, Independence War 2, Darkstar One, and sadly I lost my Freelancer disc :(
Cmon developers! Dont half ass it this time! Take your time and ill give you my money. do it too fast and youve lost my sale
The problem with X3 was the fact that the game was incredibly hands off.. It was more convenient to auto pilot every where at compressed time then to actually pilot the ship.. I spent more time watching the game then actually interacting it a lot of times.. Hopefully they change this in the sequel.sSubZerOoWho the hell auto pilots in X3 lol. Don't think I've touched the auto pilot button in over 500 hours of play. I used it a few times early on before realising it's slow and inefficient. Buy a jump drive, go anywhere fast.
I really hope they don't try and catter to the masses with this one and ruin that feeling of endless space. The complexity of the menus is what gave it a certain charm. It's really not that difficult to figure out if you have half a brain. I'm honestly worried about this one. Especially when I hear people say things like " I hope this ones less complicated so it can tide me over until Star Citizen. " Just wait for Star Citizen and don't play this series if it's too complicated for your little mind.

dude, they're video games.
In an ideal world, the best video games would have infinite depth, a small learning curve, and would maximize your fun:work ratio. You would be able to jump right in, you would constantly be learning new things and enjoying them, and you would not feel alienated.
Sorry if we don't want to spend all day navigating...menus. It has nothing to do with intellect, btw (after all, we are all PC gamers, we are all half-way smart :P ), it has mostly to do with effort and work. For some us, this is recreation. We don't want to work, we want to relax...especially in space, we want to float around, watch pretty lasers, trade, float some more, meet nice aliens, blow them up, etc.

There's nothing fun about traveling in the X3 games. There's no feeling of endless space. The games don't even have proper planets or systems.
Complexity in menu's? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. UI is supposed to be user freindly and easy to use as much possible. Making it a pain in the ass to use for sake complexity and your pathetic "charm" is dumbest thing I've ever heard.
X fans are so stupid.
Which niche community is more stupid? Arma ACE or X3? Hard choice.
I lose brain cells just reading the Egosoft forums for 5 minutes.

Quite literally getting a jump drive is not feasible for quite some time inless you you cap ships or get the abandoned ones early on.. FURTHERMORE even with in the zone I would rather auto pilot then fly in a straight line for a few minutes to get to a certain station.. Which in case you don't want to use the SETA specifically because you will not avoid ships in your path nor will you most liklely be able to react if your SETA is high enough when not in autopilot.
And there was nothing complex about the menu's outside of it being a headache of managing at times.. Lets not forget how akward it was to build station complexes in that game.. Though I thought much of the menu problems were fixed with Terran Conflict..
One complaint about the new game though I never understood is the outcry about not being able to pilot capital ships.. To be frank they SUCK to fly in because you fly them just like a fighter when they should be a new interface like Nexus Jupiter conflict, hopefully they do something like that some day.

I honestly never found the menus to be a pain in the ass. Everything is hotkeyable and once you get the hang o it you can get anywhere within the menu with a click of a key.SETA is supposed to slow down if you get close to anything you will collide with. Ive crashed only a few times in this game and every time it was caused by the autopilot itself.
Capital ships were quit boring to fly. OOS defense is their only real use.
For the complex building I have to agree, pipes were hard to manage but I had tons of fun doing it my first few times. After that I downloaded mods that helped place things more tidily :P

The series needs a bit more accessibility and it's golden.
