If you look at the benchmarks the X1950Pro is barly faster than the X1900GT, like only 2 or 3 FPS in most games and even less than that is others. And because the X1900GT is only $89 now it makes the X1950PRo a very bad deal. You should save the $30 and just get the X1900GT.

Get X1950Pro 512mb because is much better than X1900GT not only 2-3 fpsdayaccus007

Well here are the benches for the 256 model - http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=725&model2=729&chart=296

Less than 1 FPS in Oblivion and cahnge the games you will see its like 2 or 3 max. I really dont think the 512 is that much faster. And the 256 model is already $30 more! Its bad value, you would be better off getting the X1900GT and spending that extra money on a 3rd part cooler so you could OC it.

Apparently, based on the article, the X1950Pro is the better card especially when using AA/AF and at high resolutions.

Did you look at those results? The difference between the X1900GT and the X1950Pro were tiny, with the X1900GT even been faster in some like hl2 and Far Cry! You would pay $30 more for that? Well its your money....

Come on man you cant be serious? You chose Doom3 in 1024x768? The difference was 133FPS compared to 141? That is like 2 or 3 in a real game! Choosing something where both rates are that high is obviously going to make a # higher but any rational person can see the difference is less than 1%. Those links just further prove the point that the X1950Pro is bad value. There is no way the human eye could tell the difference between 133 and 141 FPS.

first, to correct you. The difference is 115$ vs. 135$. And that is not 30$. Someone should go back to school.

What is exactly 1900GT? It's downclocked version of x1950pro. And the preformance is fairly dependet on price.

although it has to be tomshardware, here is the overall preformance:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=725&model2=729&chart=318

You are basicaly pumping us with those very few games where preformance of x1950pro is barely any better due to driver issues or benchmark incorrection.

I looked at all benchmarks for a week and just could not go with the X1950Pro. Of course I could afford the extra $30 but its not worth it for such a tiny gain. The only one I almost considered was the HIS X1950Pro which was factory OCed from 580MHz to 620Mhz and was $149. But it was "Open Box" and Newegg is already out of it again.

Because of the very low price there is no way you should pay that extra money for the 1950pro for that tiny little gain that you will not even be able to see in any games.

420W XP420 PSU is fine. I was running this card a month with 400W PSU no name (pics in my blog) worked just fine, till i replaced it with better one, which was the silent one.

anyhow either x1950pro or 1900GT or 1950gt or 1950XT or nVidia cards (7900GS, 7950GT or even 8800GTS 320mb if you can get not counting dx10 cards in) you can't miss the great card. Either any of those will be just great for you.

What? The cheapestnone "Open Box" X1950Pro on newegg is $134.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102061

And the X1900GT is $89.99, that is a $44 dollar differnece! And look at those toms overall scores, 1172.6 to 1243.8 that is less than a 1% difference!! YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!

you maybe not, but there are whole alot of wierdos with large screen LCDs having better preformance with higher resolutions.

Altough i agree with you that there isn't that much difference in preformance than in money (i bought the card by other reasons)

wow you really narrowed down my choice there!! ;-)

well the reason i thought of the x1950 pro is that i heard several times that it tends to outperform its nvidia counterparts. well which is the best? if you had my pc and you could have any apart from the 7950 and 8800gts?

the x1900gt does appear to be better value but i want a card that will last me for a while. please help, anyone

For the last time, with less than a 1% difference there is no way the X1950Pro will last you any longer than the X1900GT will. And with a +$44 price tag its just bad value all the way around. But I'm done, UPS just delived my X1900GT!!!

Just get 1900GT, don't make that man mad.

The games that 1950pro outpreforms 1900GT the most are: microsoft flight sim , cod2, 3dmark, and basically any one when counting in AA and AF

yes, 1900GT is better preformance than 1950pro For the amount of money you give relatively.

But alot people just buy a card even if the other card is better bang for buck, it's just that they have enough money to afford it.

Anisotropic Filtering. And really this thread is just kind of silly. You can run comparisons between the cards in question on Tom's Hardware. I mean, did anyone even look at the chart in my original post in this thread? Anyway, good luck with your decision, almost any PC will benefit from an upgrade in video card. :)

So you wont believe this, I got my X1900GT today. Installed it and the fan does not work!!! The thing got so hot I had to wait 5 mins to remove it. It was poorly packed too, I know its OEM but the card cam un wrapped in an anti-static bag that was wide open, not even taped. The card was half out in the Styrofoam peanuts.

So needless to say I'm really pissed. I got into the customer service with NewEgg and through a fit about it. So they are giving me an instant credit even before they receive the card back via RMA and giving me a $25 credit + the $5 dollar price difference +plus are paying for shipping.

So now I don't know if I should get the X1950Pro just because it would basically be mine for the price of the X1900GT or spend the extra $30 toward another GIG of RAM. I think I will probably just get another X1900GT and more RAM.

But the X1950Pro is retail and the X1900GT is OEM and because of how poorly packed the OEM card was maybe it's worth the extra for the X1950Pro just for the fact that its retail.

Even though I'm getting $30 in free money I'm still pissed because now I'm going to have to wait another 5 days plus to get my new card, I would have rather just had the card I ordered haveworked.

Hmm that really sucks dude. Yeah I was there when you first told us all that you were getting that card. Too bad it was poorly shipped...I would be hella mad. But if it was me and I got the credit; I would just give it another go and get the gig of ram as well. Maybe you should have told them that you wanted to give it another try and if they could make sure to pack it right :D. Cause, for the price/performance you just can't go wrong with that card!! (unless of course your fan breaks :P).

Yeah I think I will just use the money towards RAM because I just do think the X1950Pro is worth the extra money even if it is free money. So I will take a gamble on another OEM. It funny because I have bought a LOT of OEM stuff through the years. This card did not look OEM, it looked "Open Box". All the OEM stuff I have bought has always come in a closed anti static bag with a yellow sticker you have to break to open it. This cam with the bag wide open and no yellow sticker at all. And the card was just loose in the bag with all the cables and disk. The cables were in individual bags but the cards was just in there in nothing.

I think this was Open Box and not OEM. But I'm going to try another one of these X1900GTs and I will let you guys know if it comes the same way or not. The guy was so quick to give me an "instant refund" and a $25 credit it's almost like he knew I got screwed....

It can Hitman for sure and can play games like bioshock near max in 1280/1024 without AA. CoJ is very poorly optimized so probably not max for it.

OEM means he gets just the hardware (card-only); no software, wiring, manuals, or retail box. An OEM processor would be a processor only, no fan, manual, stickers, etc.

Actually the X1900GT OEM does come with everything that was in the box, just not the box. But it did have all the VGA, Svideo, driver disk, and power adaptors with it. But like I said in a previous post it was all in an open unsealed bag which is why I think this might have actually been a returned card and not a true OEM which should be brand new from the factory. I suspect someone else got this card and the fan broke and shipped it back and then it was just sent back out to me un tested.
