I just bought an S939 X2 4200+ Toledo OEM and am wondering if I can use my S939 A64 3200+ Venice stock retail HSF with it without OC with no issues- I'd swear the CPU is fatter (due to 2 cores?) Will this be a problem?

Also, I have heard many stories of peeps having issues with having to re-install their OS after dropping in a dual-core CPU- what is the likelihood that I will be faced with this problem?

Edit: OK, I'll take that as a "no"...

I don't know off the top of my head, but I wouldn't run it with your old HSF if you aren't certain. Better to pickup a 40 dollar after market cooler, than fry the proc. 8)

I just did this exact swap...No,you wont have to install your OS again..but I'd clear your BIOS With my stock HS/F...I average around 40C with my PC Idle... Now,under load,I've hit about 62C.....but I think I need to reapply my thermal paste..I'm just running the cool n quiet until I can upgrade my fan and stuff
