Hey, Im just looking for some advice here, I have purchased a 360 controller for my laptop for use with games, I have done everything that needs to be done, but when I plug in the controller I just get all for green rings flashing, has anyone encountered this problem and know a fix?? I am using it with a Dell Studio Laptop 1749, core i5, I have contacted microsoft, no response.

If its the wireless controller with the plug and play charger then it dont work. That charger only charges the controller, it doesnt put any input into the computer.

Did you install the correct, most up-to-date drivers? Here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=Gaming&type=Gaming&sku=JR9-00001 Select the correct values, download whatever is necessary and then restart your computer.

I downloaded the exe and it says I already have it, so no worries there, I have looked in my devices list and it is there, its just not assigning the controller to a "player"..

thank you to those who helped, turns out I had a program called motioninjoy which I was using to try get a ps3 controller to work with my pc, was interfering, I removed it in device manager and it worked, thank you to those who offered advice.
