Hi, I'm going to buy a wireless 360 controller but I just saw with a friend that when the games use it, the "games for Windows" software runs as well. I just wonder, is that thing mandatory everytime I use it? With Steam and that I'm kind of worried that my games don't run to the fullest.

I am not sure, but my Madcatz fps pro xbox 360 controller does not. Also, make sure it is a controller for windows if not the wireless one will need some sort of adapter which I believe comes with windows version. I did look through some reviews on amazon and none of them talk about this problem

when you use a wired or wireless xbox360 controller the installed driver runs, That's it.  No gfw crap or anything else, I have 5 xbox360 controllers, no problem at all.

Some games use 'Games for Windows' and they also support the controller, but not every game that supports the controller uses games for Windows.

The two arent connected in anyway. I love to use my Xbox controller for PC games. Nothing beats 60 fps, maxed out gaming on your plasma tv with a controller on your comfy sofa.
