xbox 360 controller w/ windows vista?

ok. so i got the wireless extender and am trying to use my wireless controller as a controller, i've dled the software that i need from microsofts website... but...

the controller only ever shows up as a "usb human interface device" not a controller...

any idea y its doin this and how i can use it?

That's in the Device Manager right? That's just a generic name. To really find out if it is installed, check your control panel, under Joysticks (I can't remember the exact name), and see if it is in the list.

personally i have a black wireless 360 controller for my Vista that works great but, what you need to do is uinstall and then re-install the drivers, after that go to Start->All Programs->Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories->Microsoft Xbox 360 Status

ok... its back up as usb human interface or w/e...

any idea y it keeps NOT recognizing it? y did it work the one time?

ok walk it though restart your comp and do waht i told you to do above if it doesnt work then re-install,

sometimes it doesnt have to be logged in as a controller to work as long as the light in the corner of the 360 controller is on and connected wirelessly then your good just try to use it on a game
