xbox 360 controllers for pc

i just wanted to know how good these xbox 360 gamepads really are for pc

i have an alright pc at the moment but will be getting a very good graphics card (suggestions wouldnt be unappreciated)

  but my main question:

do all games work with these gamepads? im especially interested in cod4/5

Its going to depend on the game.  Most games that are "Games for Windows" support the 360 gamepad just like it would on the 360.  Some other games are hit and miss.  It works very well with Dead Space and NBA 2k9 but some games dont let you map the buttons properly so your better off just using the kb and mouse.  I used Dead Space and NBA 2k9 as examples because those are 2 recent releases that werent "Games for Windows" releases.

Usable but not effective enough. The 360 controller generic driver from M$ for some reason treats the back triggers as Z-axis instead of two seperate, additional buttons. Adding to that, on occassions right stick is not utilized to its fullest.quietguy

Don't listen to this guy. He's either never used one or is just bashing. I personally prefer the 360 controller for pc games over my keyboard and mouse. It simplifies things and therefore make me perform better. I use it for FPS games too and swear by it but it is a matter of preference.
