ive just got an xbox360 elite and a new dell sp2309w monitor to play it on..i also bought a non-MS vga cable to hook the two up..my problem is the pic on the display has a bit of shadow behind it..is that 'ghosting'? im not sure.. the natural display of the monitor is 2048 x 1152 but i can only setup the xbox res to 1980 x 1080.. is that the problem? how should i setup the xbox and the monitor so that i could get a decent picture out of it? is it the cable coz i read up a few reviews of it on amazon and it got quite decent response from other users heres the monitor specs http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-sp2309w/4507-3174_7-33456038.html and i wondering how can i adjust the volume of the game if i hook up my headphones straight to the xbox via a female-to-female adapter? i cant seem to find an option in the dashboard appreciate any response
Seems the 360 can't be set to your monitors native resolution as it is not supported by the 360. That is really a problem as the image will never look as sharp as it could be, whether that is the cause of the ghosting or if it's the cable I'm not sure.
Only thing you can do is try an official cable, and maybe live with the problem if it's not that. Or return the monitor and get one that has a resolution supported by the 360. It could also just be quality of the monitor. I assume you've played with the settings and couldn't improve it.
Finda friendwho has a 1680x1050 or 1920x1080 monitor. 1680x1050 monitors are the most common resolution for widescreen montiors between 21-23". I have a 1680x1050 monitor, and the 360 supports that resolution through my official VGA cable. But I think it could be your cable. I bought a non-official VGA cable for the Xbox on eBay from some Hong Kong seller, hoping to save myself $20-30 bucks. Nope, I ended up wasting $18. The colors were messed up and there were lots of ghosting and shadows. And it was the native resolution and everything. I went to Best Buy, and luck struck me that day, I found an open-package official VGA cable for the 360 for only $36. I bought it in a heartbeat. Got home, hooked it up, and the picture was flawless! Super crisp and clear. I kept the Chinese knock-off one to remind myself not to make that mistake again.
