You could just buy the wireless 360 controller and the receiver for your PC.

If you have a bluetooth adapter (Or you can buy one for less than 10 bucks these days,) you can get a PS3 controller and use it via bluetooth. Gotta use a program called Motioninjoy and it even emulates the 360 controller (Games that support the 360 controller will think the DS3 controller is actually a 360 pad) if you wanted to.

That costs as much as a new game though. Get the regular USB one. Actually, get it from the Xbox section at Gamestop (not PC) and just download/install the drivers from Windows Update.

This.

Hell, chances are you already have one. Just plug it into your USB port and DL the drivers from Microsoft. I've used both my 360 and PS3 controllers on my PC, though they don't work too well on 64-bit.

This is what I got. It includes the receiver. Works great just needs batteries. I'm much happier with wireless.

Really? My wireless 360 controller works fine in my 64-bit Win7. Odd.

I've done this and I have had absolutely zero problems with 64-bit windows 7.

You could also use PS3 controller via USB. That is what I do even though I have a wired 360 controller. I just hate unraveling the stupid cord for the 360 controller. Of course I am sure that a wired 360 controller is cheaper than a PS3 controller so if you didn't have a PS3 controller then what I am saying is kind of pointless.

On a related notes, how hard is it to get an original XBOX controller working with your PC? I plan on connecting one to a USB cable and plugging that in. How well will that work (after I get drivers and all that stuff).

That's pretty much how you do it. Windows Update will install the driver for you.

Literally. :) That's all you have to do with Windows 7. Plug in the XBox controller on startup and Windows 7 will find new drivers for you.
