I'm thinking about buying a 360 but I can only afford the core system and I no it doesn't have enough memory but can you save your progress in games

You have to have a memory card.  They retail for $40.  I would just save up a few more bucks and get the premium, but if you honestly have to have one today, check a used game store first.

By the time you buy the memory card, and in all honesty you'll want the HD, it's the same

Just save your money longer.

Refurbs will usually only save you $20, I don't know if they're backed by the new 1 year warranty tho

Youch, is the difference really $160US in the UK?

Is there a UK equiv of Craigslist? I've seen premiums on there for as low as $320US slightly used
