X-com UFO defense Best HWP???

Just A quick question I was wondering which one is the best alot of my friends say the Tank/Rocket launcher and Tank/Laser. I am not that good at this game and i was wondering which one i should go with. I have A Tank/Rocket Launcher right now and it kicks ass! Any suggestions would be awesome!;)

I prefer the rocket launcher tank only because the tank has poor aim in general. You are likely to hit an alien with splash damage from rockets.

So is there really no reason to upgrade A HWP? So I should stick with just the Tank/Rocket for the whole game? And Thank you guys for the feedback.8)

I personally prefer using the Tank/Rocket Launcher HWP in the early game. Once you research the Plasma HWP, go with that the rest of the way. I personally find they are more durable, sufficiently accurate, and they can fly. I use the other tanks just for the hell of it of doing something different.XIntoTheBlue

Im going to be researching the avenger soon and I am going to go with 2 HWP/Rocket and 2 HWP/plasma with the support of 10 soliders. Mass destruction with a HWP squad!:twisted:

What a great game this one continues to be. All the different tactical decisions to be made and implemented. I personally loved all soldiers but the mind control killed you. Tanks just can't go everywhere. Everything had it's advantages and disadvantages. I was so into it I kept all the stats for all my people, watched how they rose,and those with low psych I would drop their weopons before the end of turn so that when the alien took them over they couldn't hurt anyone.

Are there any good modern versions of this type of game? I used to love this game but know it like the back of my hand, would be awesome if something like UFO was in the works.JTWibble

No. Do not know why, seems like an instant success. They have tried without getting it right. Maybe some things are just destined to be done right only once.

Wow at first i didnt believe u were talking about the old xcom. Easily my favorite game of all time. Now im tempted to play it again. :oops:

I've been waiting for a good XCOM type game or something like it since after XCOM Apocalypse (late 90s)... Silent Storm is good but not in the same league. For some reason devs avoid making turn based games. Heck, any half decent turn-based game would be great...

My ultimate wish is for a turn based *strategy RPG fantasy-XCOM hybrid* game.

I was sifting through the Direct2Drive less than $10 video game bin and I came across X-Com UFO defense. I've watched and read some reviews and it seems to be a deep turn-based strategy game. Do you guys think it's worth it? If it helps, I do like me some "older" games. Thanks in advance.

And Elann2008 Dont worry about the hijack haha! I have been playing this game for 2 months now and I have been enjoying it more than some modern games. It has a bit of a learning curve like what to manufacture and research but there are alot of playthroughs on youtube and http://www.ufopaedia.org/will help you out alot it did for me atleast.

I do need help though with mind controling aliens they keep F***ing me every time I do a UFO ground recovery. I have to keep making my soldiers drop their weapons and nades till there are only two soldiers left and I have to abort.
