ok here is my problem.. i have an X-fi sound card and it doesnt like to work with Vista64 wit 4GB ram and nvidia chipset motherbaords. I want to run 3.5GB so I was wondeirng if there is a program where i can edit the amount of ram my computer uses just like windows32 will only 3.5GB if i have 4GB pluged in

I dont want to down grade to visat 32, and i cant take out a stick of ram as it causes my compuetr to crash woth the blue screen.

The problem is that the card doesn't work with a 64bit OS, removing a stick of RAM dosn't change the bit rate. Make sure you're using 64bit drivers otherwise you'll have to loose the card or change to 32bit. Also if it doesn't work with your motherboard though i haven't heard of this ever being an issue you'll need a new motherboard or you'll have to loose the card. The only way you could do what you want (even though it won't work) would be to alter your PC at the BIOS level so that it doesn't recognise those RAM locations.

XFi cards do work with Vista 64 bit, i have that exact setup albeit with only 2GB of RAM. There are issues if u use 4GB of RAM though and the drivers creative supply are not great, this is a known issue and there are numerous threads on the creative labs forums regarding this very issue.

Alot of the problems are down to MS changing the architecture for Vista and the fact that creative have been very lazy in building a workable good solution. Your best bet would be to head on over to the creative forums and have a good read, theres alot of helpful information.

Apparently there are 3rd party drivers on the net that work better than creatives own but ive never actually used them myself so i cant really comment on them but again, there are people on the creative boards that have and will be able to help u more.

Im on Vista 64bit with 4GB of RAM and an X-Fi, and yes the drivers are far from brilliant. My PC is liable to lockups, but it doesnt stop it from working most of the time. Make sure you install the correct drivers

Sorry off the top of my head ive no idea but if u go over to the Creative Labs forums there is alot of people that will be able to comment and help u with them.

Apparently they are much better than creatives own efforts though so it might be worth a try.
