What does Steam have to do with Xfire? o_0
One is a program that tracks games, on which you can add friends, servers (if the feature is available for that game), videos and screenshots and steam is a digital distribution platform that is use by some multiplayer games, it self updates your games, you can add friends , you can add servers in your list and it also tracks how much you played your games, but for just 2 weeks.
I use both, but I really don't see why anyone would use Steam if they have no games purchased on it.
whats so good about xfire? Doesnt steam do everything xfire does and more? The only reason I can see anyone using xfire is if they were using it pre-steam.
I would say this poll is semi irrelevant. I mean Steam and Xfire are not ment to compete with each other. Xfire is pureley for chating and counting play time in my eyes while steam offers games for download and different communities. Xfire is a great asset for non steam ran games but at the same time steam has a chat while in those games as well. Sorry I went on a rant. I use both

Xfire you can take and post screenshots and video footage, also people can watch you play live on xfire.
I use steam to buy games and chat/join friends in games, while i use xfire to keep track of ALL my playing time on games and also sharing screenshots/video footage with friends. Glad i have both tbh

people can watch you play an offline game with xfire? Sounds cool. Or do you mean that you can record videos with xfire, cus I already use fraps for that.
Xfire can track all games, where steam can only track steam games, and Xfire its easier to build a community and it has better/stronger community options/interface. Has more features for all games, not just one set of steam only games for instance.whats so good about xfire? Doesnt steam do everything xfire does and more? It's basically nothing more than a shortcut to the executable, but people on your friends list can see what you're playing. I doubt you are able to join to your friend's server through a non-steam game though. Not 100% sure on that.whats so good about xfire? Doesnt steam do everything xfire does and more? Xfire is not mandatory, so you can play games with or without, but if you use Xfire it will give you some nice features like join on fly at games, see your playing historial, etc. On the other side, Steam is useless if the game is not vinculed to Steam and is mandatory if is based on this system. So, Xfire is better because you can play your games even if the Xfire servers are down, on the other hand, if Steam servers are out you usually can't play your Steam games.
As a download system, I prefer Battlenet and Blizzard Store because is not required to install any program to download Blizzard games, and Battlenet cnnection is only mandatory to online ladder matches -but you can play single player in Starcraft, Diablo or Starcraft games without conexion.
As for vids and screenshots, I use full FRAPS -it let you to take screenshots in different formats -bmp fore more quality, jpg to spent less size, etc.- and the recording options only cut your framerrate in 1/3 instaed 1/2 in Xfire.
For me Xfire is better than Steam, even taking in consideration that they fields of features are way different.
Also, Xfire provides VOIP, and in any sense is better than PS Network or Xbox Live systems.

Steam has that feature too.

You're able to broadcast any game live to people or just your friends. That includes single player and multiplayer games.I use both, but prefer to Xfire, I like to know how long I'm playing certain games, and Xfire is compatible with virtually 100% of my games.
they both sell digital games, you can add games on it, you can chat ingame, you can use voice chat.. they are the same. add me on xfire or steam : wesszzelWhat does Steam have to do with Xfire? o_0
