I'm not a hardcore PC gamer, but have been in desperate need of something other than my intergrated GeForce 6100 GPU, and have seen this XFX GeForce 8500 GT Graphics Card. Anyone with one of these mind telling me how they run? or anyone that would have an idea? i mainly want to play UT3 possibly, when it comes out, but not much else, maybe ET:Quake wars. Thanks PC Comm.

Dont buy it.. at the very least get a 8600GT. The 8500GT is not meant for gaming.

The 8600gt and the HD 2600 both seem to be decent cards, my point is, NEVER buy hardware from big-box stores, or their weblites, always go to newegg.com first. I don't know why they are so much cheaper, but they are.

7600GT is a steal. I think its around $90. I also thought that the X1900 was $100 something.

Yeah, thats a good card, but I just checked newegg and its 69.99 for a 7600GT (w/rebate), which is fine as long. I don't think he would need a DX10 card. Either ones good.

Of course it all depends if the OP does Rebates or not.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127286 Newegg. When it comes to hardware, this is the place to go 99% of the time.

Since it won't let me edit my post... I'd recommend that or another 8600GT. ATI has lost my favor over the last year :D

My xfx 8600GT is supposed to arrive this Monday, and I can't wait. As already stated, the 8500 is really not a gaming card, you would be a lot better off getting the 8600gt, after the mail-in-rebate(even if it takes 6 months) the cost would only be about $110, a lot more bang for your buck then the 8500.

i also suggest the 8600GT card, its the minimum gaming card, but a friend has got the 8500GT, core went from 459 to 700, but memorycouldnt go over 470mhz.its a good card cuz its real Cheap. it could run graw2 on 1024x768 on high with average frames of 35. if that satisfies you then go for it.
