I have xp32 bit, 64 bit, and vista ultimate 64 bit. I have to say xp64 bit is by far the best I have used. I mean vista x64 used 50% of my quad all times and 4 gigs of ram idle and unresponsive I really didn't like it at all...

That's clearly not Vista's fault. 50% of the QUAD and 4 gigs? Lol. As if Aero looked that good. :P

I honestly think you should buy Vista already if you're going to be gaming. IMO it's a waste to buy an OS that you're just going to upgrade in 6-12 months. The drivers are getting better already and Vista itself doesn't have that many bugs in it.  Waiting for an SP pack is also worthless since those are not meant to increase the gaming performance or compatibility with some games.

Even 2 gigs is a lot for Vista to be using up at idle. People usually say it takes up about 600mb which is a lot but it's nowhere near 2 gigs lol.

Oh and of course XP can use dual core cpus. If you get the Pro edition, you can even use 2 CPUs!

Yea my Vista only uses 500mb idle but I have 2gb of RAM and my cpu at idle never goes above 27%
