Whaaat? I had no idea. All this time I thought these games just used rigid models for those things along with instant snap off wings when really damaged. I also went and saw what they charge for X-Plane 10...freaking $70. Thats a hell no for me...even with 40 available planes and pretty nice graphics...FSX has wing physics like that also and has for a long time.

Skip to :45 to watch the wing bounce on landing. That's FSX. Most of the default planes have static wings, but most addons(free and paid) have wing physics that are usually pretty accurate.
X-Plane has definitely come a long way, but it still can't replace FSX for me.Â
It has replaced it for me since a long time for the whole sensation. Its like FSX renders then pays attention to physics and XPlane the other way around. and is starting to look acceptable this days. I cant describe the next thing very well but i hope i give you enough info to understand what its in my mind: The landing part is real different. FSX runs a whole damn lot of scripts when you touch down. bogging the whole system sometimes even skipping some frames. Kind of like deciding if you crashed or not and then continue with the render. XPlane doesnt, you are part of the world and when you land the motion is fluent. like the springs on the wheels actually work, like... picture this, xplanes got springs on wheels that do contract while you land, and if you exceed that you break, while in FSX you are a flying square that calculates the force on "touch down", and loading an animation on the plane while not actually doing it. I hope this sums up, and is explained well enough for it to be understood, on why i made the switch.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9Fll4jmA2c

$70 isn't bad. Remember how much FSX cost when it was newly released? The Deluxe version cost like $80.
